    Default Seeds

I'm going to start sprouting soon and also growing some herbs on my patio.
Im interested in growing a tomato plant or some other veggies.

i live in an apartment so a legit garden is out of the question.

any advice on what would be good to grow? plus what would be ideal if i want to reuse the seeds?

im thinking sustainable growth... not having to keep buying seeds..

    thanks

    Here's some info. for you:

One thing you might want to consider is buying new tomato seed each year. I've read at various places that tomatoes are highly susceptible to cross pollination, so if you do reuse your seed, what you get may not be what you want and you may wind up with a variety that is not resistant to disease and might wind up fouling up your soil. That being said, my best tomato plant last year was one that just came up on its own. I had no idea what it was going to be. Turns out it was a cherry tomato. The year before I had planted several different varieties.

Some herbs will just reseed themselves and keep on going. My parsley made it through the winter. So did the lavender and the mint.

    Default tomatos

U can get dwarf cherry tomato plants. They dont get all that large and is great for small spaces. Check with your local nursery to see if they carry it. If not u can buy the seed either online or maybe any store in your area that carrys seed. It is such a prolific producing plant. I have had them planted outdoors and the seed dropped and it would come up every year as long as i did not pick all the tomatos which was almost impossible as i used to have a garden with the bigger tomatos and so the little ones did not get eaten up quick enough. One or two would rot and fall to the ground and each year would have them come up as good as the first time. There r a lot of dif kinds of plants u can grow on a patio. All bush type, cucumbers, beans, lots of things. U just have to come up with ideas on how to make room. Beans can grow on a trellis or some kind of support. U have a perfect place to grow a lot of things as long as u have sun.
Also....did u read the info on the window shelves? U could not grow a tomato on it as it takes to big of a pot but u sure can grow a lot of herbs on it. Is a nice way to have fresh herbs year around.
I kept alive chives, and mint this last year over winter so will try more herbs this next winter.
