Is it a lot cheaper to buy a whole pineapple than having the grocer cut it for you?

Wow cool thanks for the link NWGal, that really looks awsome! Is it electric or does it work just by pressing down? I think I will definately have to order one of these, it's only four pounds in the UK for a set that will do small medium and large!

Kristi.. Well its so cheap that I dont think it matters either way . I love having freshly cut Pineapple when ever I want it. And I like using the husk for diffrent things. Like Candle holder (smells great! ) dish for my fruits or a a glass for my raw juices and then i toss it in the compost :).. I just find it very fun :).. I Just realized in explaining this to you Kristi that it doesnt take much to amuse me

oooooooooooh I LIKE the sound of this! NWGal I LOVE the idea of using the husk for those uses! I have this dream of me on a desert island in the evening in a hammock between 2 palm trees, I watch the sunset sipping fresh juice from a pineapple shell or a coconut and I stay there all night under the clear stars and wake up to the sunrise and go swimming in the sea with the fish and coral...

Ahhhh I think I will try and find one of these once i'm all moved home..
I love my fruit as fresh and alive as possible too!

So, do you cut the outside of the pineapple off first or what? I can't quite figure it out from the pictures.

Kristi you cut of the top and then you use the slicer to cut straight down into the pineapple and it leave the outside in-tact.Its very simple and it come out like a long curly-Qish shape and then you slice it into bits or rings what ever you want. Hope that explains it for you :)...

Oh wow I can't wait to get one of these! I hope I can find one somewhere at the store nearby instead of ordering online though as I don't think I can order from the UK on amazon.com. I just cut a pineapple today with a regular knife and it made me thing does this pineapple cutter waste a lot of the pineapple when it removes the shell? I am curious to know how much of the pinapple gets wasted in the process and if it is more or less than by doing it with a knife...

Analeah, just so you know... There is Amazon.co.uk. You should be able to get most anything you need from that site since it's nearer to you. I'll check it out real quick for ya and let you know. Be right back!

I looked it up on amazon.co.uk as well and did find the pineapple slicer but when I added it to basket and tried to check out or whatever it says "only ship to UK" or something like that...Did you find a different link that will allow someone in another part of Europe order from the uK?
