Default Dizziness and change of vision during rides

I have been raw for last couple of months, I got my road bike and began to do 14 mile rides (rolling hills to some flat) I am experiencing dizziness and change of vision and it makes me wonder if I am lacking something or need more of something in my diet. I am drinking water...
I would like to build up my time on bike but don't want to have problems deepen without working with what I have on my plate now. Help!

    Default Hard to respond

to this not knowing what you are or are not eating. Does your food program include plenty of dark green leafy veggies? Sprouts? Raw juices ~ fruit and veggie? Are you taking drugs? Weaning off any? So many factors, so little information.

    Default more info

I don't take any drugs but that of my Thyroid meds. I take a natural...it is from pigs. Armour Thyroid- Pig hormones are the closest to human. But this has been a life long issue for 35 years.

As far as sprouts....I live on an island- living abroad- away from the ability to get the things for sprouting. I could order them and hope that customs will allow it, being agricultural. Also, I do eat leafy greens, but had been going through a stage last week where I don't want anything green, but did it anyway. I eat nuts. I soak and then dehydrate the walnuts again I like to have them crunchy. I make almond milk, but have also bought some. Nuts and dates have been my favorite snack.
I juice, but not leafy greens, my machine doesn't do greens, but I have been looking into different juicer.
Does this help any?? Would sprouting make that difference?????

    Default I dunno,

from what you've said so far. Sooo, what is it you are juicing? Carrots...or? If so, sometimes the change in vision may be the carrots. Also, consider this ~ when one is going from poor (or adequate) health to better health, we often get worse before getting better. It's possible this is a transition thing. Has it happened only once or every time you get on the bike?

For dizziness, I'd probably consider getting my ears checked as an imbalance in them will cause a loss of balance (if that makes sense).

Also, please keep open to this ~ just because a thyroid has previously not been functioning, it is not inconceivable for it to become functional. Stranger things have happened. If this is so, (just throwing out possibilites here), the meds you are taking may be too powerful for your new body. I've had clients get off various medications they've been taking for YEARS! and been told they'd have to take for the rest of their lives ~ just by changing their food program although, just being raw for a couple of months ~ hard to tell.

Hope this helps some as I'm just throwing out possibilities ~

    Default carrots...

Yes, I was doing alot of carrots during my flu with ginger and apple. During the flu, my ears were checked and no sign of infection. Only wax she said.
My thyroid...well, if I don't take it I get tired, confused, memory problem and my joints ache.
I am wondering if some of it is from the flu, mucous in sinus and such.
What I also want to know is what raw foods would be best for sports. Pre workout, post workout. Carbs and proteins, how to stock up.

    Default Yanno,

I trained in body building for quite some time ~ to the point where guys were looking at me for partner's competitions and I never concerned myself with all that carb-loading/protein stuff. I ate a varied diet. When I was first training, I ate a LOT of protein type foods ~ eggs, etc. With 4-5+ hours of training a day all I looked was bulked. I eventually became vegetarian and that's when my body showed all the wonderful effects I got from training. I got cut and ripped w/out being hungry and/or the ups and downs most feel when playing w/ carbs/protein stuff.

It was funny because my partner was walking behind me one day and told me my back looked awesome and wondered what I'd look like if I ate meat. Been there, done that and was never told my back looked awesome.

Default purhaps it is not varied enough

Thank you for taking the time with me on this....
I really want to get far with my cycling and not have this dizziness issue....I am hoping it is from the flu.
I have tried doing regular cooked foods for a few days and don't want it like I thought I did, I have been 100% raw for 2 months, and sometime having cravings because my family was having it and I was not. (social food cravings I think) Like smokers who smoke when with other smokers kinda issue. I don't smoke, just using it as an example.
I am the one who has to shop and cook for my cooked food family. They don't want to do raw. Mother instincts makes this a guilt issue if I don't cook for them. I have done well on raw, lost 20 lbs and looking younger, more energy for awhile till I got sick. I don't want to lose what I have gained in health. I don't want to gain the weight lost either!

    Hey ABCL,
Did the dizzyness and change of vision just start while you were sick
w/flu? Is it only on the bike rides? or all the time.
If you are sick you might consider just short rides till you are over the flu.
Don't push yourself too hard, let your body heal. Listen to your body.
Also maybe take some dates along with you on your rides.
I tend to get low blood sugar at times. I like to eat some banana's or dates
before I work out. That really helps me.
I know nothing about your meds so I can't help with any of that. Please
be careful as to not get hurt on your rides if it doesn't improve.

Also Congrats on the 20lbs.! That is something!
    Warmly, Punky

I was curious when you had your last thyroid test? Just wondering if you can tell if you have any improvement going on which may help you decide if you want to try reducing your meds a little at a time...

I've had some dizziness that I associated with detox. As you just had the flu, it could easily be a result of that. The viral thing that was going the rounds where I live right after Christmas was nasty that way. Just when people felt well enough to go back to work, they'd get freaky symptoms like ringing in the ears or dizziness.

I'm certainly not advocating that you yourself reduce your thyroid med dosage, but I agree with Sharon that getting tested more frequently if you can do that could be a good idea, otherwise how will you know for certain that you're still taking an appropriate dosage if your body is able to work to correct what has been a lifelong lack of function--till now, maybe?

    Default craniosacral therapy

Hi, I would suggest seeing a craniosacral therapist. I practice that and massage therapy, and am a Medical Intuitive, and can read energy long distance. It's been awhile since you wrote this post, and maybe your condition has resolved itself, but for what it's worth, it feels as though your eyes are involved and there is a backing up of cerebral spinal fluid in the brain that's not draining like it could. One technical description, if you were to see someone, would be that the cranium feels like it is stuck in "flexion". The source of that might be, some pulling in the membranes in the middle of your brain toward the top of your head. This could be from many things-sinus trouble, general stress, eye strain, injury, past orthdontics, etc. An experienced craniosacral therapist or cranial osteopath could probably help with this, at least structurally. I hope the unasked-for health reading was ok....Just love to be in service.....Blessings! :)
