Default Which juicer: Samson or Champion

I have narrowed my search to the Samson or Champion juicer. Can anyone give me advice which to buy? I want to juice fruits, vegetables, greens and wheatgrass. Pros and Cons of each????? Thank you.

I know nothing about either. I have heard of Champion but never interested me. I own a Green Star, Juice Man Juicer, Jack Lalane and VitaMix. I think that is all..........

    Default juicer?

The Champion will not juice wheat grass.

    Hi there,

You might want to do a (banana) search because this question has been asked before.

But I will reiterate my previous input since I have both juicers. The Champion is currently at my office where it gets occasional use (we also lend it out to friends) but my recommendation is the Samson.

We got the Champion in 2005 to take the place of the Breville we had previously. I was very disappointed to discover that the Champion did not juice wheatgrass very well (contrary to the information provided by Champion). Once we realized this, we ordered the Samson. The laborious practice of juicing wheatgrass with the Champion, which not only was time consuming but did not yield much, became an easy task with the Samson. No joke I could juice the wheatgrass, get more from the grass, and get the machine cleaned in less time than it took to get wheatgrass juice from the Champion (and again, the Champion yield was not nearly as much.)

The Samson is great for making fresh fruit sorbet too, although I have not had much success making nut butters with it or the Champion for that matter. Plus the Samson is easy to use and clean.

    Hope that helps,

    EC

R4L is right, the Champion is not the best for wheat grass. I did it once on mine. It was tough, but not impossible. Also, there are dedicated juicers just for wheat grass, if you have a few extra bucks and want the best of both worlds.

There's a few good juicers out there. I imagine the Samson is fine. I've had my Champion for about 30 years with zero problems. So I'm partial, but still open-minded. It's almost all motor - very rugged & reliable. And extremely easy to clean. Great for nut butters too.

I just now saw EastCoastie's post. The Samson sounds like a winner. I wonder if there are any consumer ratings on juicers? I always want to see the repair index when it comes to a serious investment.

As someone else said, do a search here. That question is up in the top 5 most asked.

I've had two Champions, the Green Star, Green Life and currently own the Samson. Depending on your usage, the Champion is, as stated, heavy duty. It's GREAT for carrots, nut butters and the like. The Samson is gentler and does greens w/out heating up as the Champion tends to do.

I had this very question I was going to ask today. I looked in the "search" section but it seemed to be only comparing omega to the champion and I'd like opinions on more of a variety. I tried the acme today because a coworker let me borrow it, but it's no where near as good as my jack lalane. I'd like one that'll last me a while that I can take to college wtih me. My jack lalane is plastic and i'd like something that is stainless steel. Any imputs? Sorry if i'm hijacking the thread!

    Cool

Unless they changed, the Champion is heavy - the main body metallic. Mine is avocado green (yum). What can I say? I live in a 70s timewarp. The chute is durable, virtually unbreakable plastic. Don't know if the Samson is or not. I would definitely check it out. Maybe you can try them both before making a final decision. :-{)

    Default Samson

Next time I buy a juicer, I will definitely check out the Samson... if only my 30 year old Champion would just die.

I have a mid 90's Omega and it does not like anything soft at all......... It hates kale and parsly grrrr it loves carrots though. I think I am just going to get a Vita-mix instead of a new juicer and blend my greens like Victoria Boutanko and juice everything else in my Omega. sorry I guess that doesn't help you decide
