Default Pet Food has Rat Poisin!

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070323/...et_food_recall

And they tried to tell us it was Wheat Gluten! Blame the plants every chance!

Oh and the Rat Poison is also used to treat human cancer - but it only causes kidney failure in dogs and cats - not humans. Right.

My mom's West Highland Terrier just died of kidney failure. I wonder if it was the food.

The list is further down on the thread about recalled cat food. Dog food is included. Huge list.

The rat poison was not even a poison authorized for use in this country. Apparently, it's only authorized for use on cancer patients....

The poison is suspicioned to have been on imported wheat used in the food.

So, why are we importing wheat if the US is one of the top producers of wheat in the world? Hmmmmm.... curiouser and curiouser.

KatK, sorry about your mom's babydog.

    VERY good question!

I think it's called politics.. and isn't it just obnoxious?

I am glad that our dog is on a raw diet. We used to give her Nutro Natural Choice and that was on the list. I'm sorry to everyone whose pets have been affected by this!

Thanks, we loved that dog. My mom always called her my little sister.

My husband made me go through and through and through to see if any dry food was on the list. Now he insists that the dogs just get raw meat for now. We already know that we will be in trouble if our old guy kicks. His wife is my beautiful protector that deserves to be in one of Solace's paintings even though she is not a horse. (I love Solace's treatment of the long-hair manes.) This is the dog that I love, that I wish that I had not spayed, the abused puppy pulled off the streets of a border town, that is so exceptional that I would clone her if I could - simply because I have never seen a dog so exceptional and I failed to realize it before I did the pc thing of spaying her. She is so like me - rough and fragile - wild and tame - we are kindred spirits. She however, is an alpha female, and I am not. She rules every animal situation. She is so intelligent and even tried to heal me earlier this week with healing energy. Doggie healing energy.

Our animals understand everything that we say. We have every right to mourn when we lose them. Sorry for the loss of your little sis.

On the news they just reported that the same chemical in the rat poison is used in chemo for patients with breast cancer. what's wrong with that picture!? At least it was on the news though....the truth!
