Sprouting Grains with the Easy Green...
Hey was wondering- Those who have the Easy Green Sprouter, How full do you fill the trays with grains? I want to sprout all I have, then Dehydrate them and store, so when I need them for a recipe, I wont have to wait. So any words of advice? Can you fill the trays to the top? Or should it only be a small layer covering the bottom? Ugh that would suck.

Hello Davylp,
I just recently started using my Easy Green. For grains, I think you can fill a little more than one layer, but not filling it to the top. I only did alfafa and mung beans so far, so this is not based on experience. Good luck and please let us know what worked.

hmm
Hey thanks.
I still havent actually tried it yet... I emailed the company, and they said you cant fill it to the top because the air went get through to each grain. But when recipes call for like 4 cups of barley etc... I'm not sure how to fill the trays or if they will even fit because they all need to be sprayed etc.
I'm thinking maybe for such large amounts of grains it would be easier to just fill up a jar and put them in, wash and rinse for however many days. Never sprouted anything before, which I why I bought the easy green-- If anyone has any experience with such large amounts of grains, sprouted by the easy green please let me know < My grains are just chillin, waiting to be consumed lol!

Bowl
I just sprout my sprouts in a plain ole bowl.
Works fine.
Why buy another thing for the landfills?

I have a couple of Easy Green machines, and use them both every day. With wheat, you can put more in the tray (say, half full), but you can't let them shoot very far, or they suffocate each other. If you take them out just as they start to shoot, it works fine. HOWEVER, I use a jar when I'm sprouting grains for making pizza bases and biscuits... ie: larger quantities.
I don't understand dehydrating and freezing, tho'.

Easy sprouting:
Put the desired amount of grains in a jar and fill with water to cover the grain overnight. The next day dump in a colander and let sit in it for the required time to sprout. Rinse twice a day. The sprouts come out great. Usually the sprouts have slightly longer tail under the topmost layer of the sprouts.
