Juicers
I'm looking into getting a juicer and I can't seem to decide between the Hippocrates Green Star juicer or the Champion. I am allergic to most citrus fruits so I will be using it mostly for veggies and maybe homogenizing nut milks etc. Can I get some feedback? Price is obvy an issue, but not a major one.
Thanks!

I love my Omega 8005 :-)
I had a champion before, but had to sell it when I moved in the summer. I recently bought an Omega 8005 and really like it. It is one of the lower rpm ones that does not aerate the juice so much, or heat it, and the juice does not oxidize as quickly and is not frothy or foamy.
It also makes nut butters, fruit ice creams..etc..has a pasta extruder attachments. i am (when I end my fast) am going to try to make sprouted grain pasta that is then dehydrated. I got a great deal on my juicer here

and free shipping from west coast to NY state..lol.. that was Very nice..
Good luck with your decision....

I love my omega 8005. Easy to use, easy to clean and it juices leafy greens too.

and wheatgrass too.....
yes..I forgot about that...
I am going to try to grow my own wheatgrass so I can take full advantage of that feature... sure better than paying a couple or three of dollars a shot..

Hi Elizabeth / solarliving / or others with experience: about the omega-juicer I have a little question:
* How long is it taking you to juice a reasonable amount of leafvegetables
(for example: spinach). because the opening of the juicer seems so small.
* Is this juicer also good working for dense/thick vegetables like beet and carrot? (the juicer i now use for this has a high RPM)
many thanks, LL ;)

I have not juiced leafy greens yet... I hope it does them!! It said in all that I read about it that it did well with wheatgrass and leafy greens...
hmmmm....what troubles do you have? Do you have to clean the filter often?

lol I am still totally indecisive. I went into my health food store yesterday and they had all three. I even asked the owner which one he liked the best and he was leaning towards the champion or the omega as the prices are better than the Green Star, but i could get the Green Star for about the same as the other two with taxes included. Oh I'm so confused!

Got One
Got it! I got the Hippocrates Green Star juicer! I'm going to do a 5 day juice fast next week ( I have a few days off work). Any helpful ideas? I'm going to do a colon irrigation during the fast to help clear out the toxins.

damzfly im so jealous , you got the dream machine .
heres a link to a long thread a bunch of us did on a fast last month .
http://www.rawfoodtalk.com/showthread.php?t=21700
and on juice fast ide suggest having lemons because many people use them for cleansing in a fast . in the mentioned thread juicing ideas and links to fasting sites are all logged .
happy fasting
ps - a bunch of us are doing a fast mid month , misslinda is the leader and she'll start a thread announcing it if you want to join in .
-
Sounds great. I want to do mine on the 16th-20th of march. And trust me the dream machine was NOT CHEAP!! Even second hand! Oh well..I'm all set now. I have the Excalibur, the juicer, the cuisinart, the blender...off I go!
How long is the planned fast?
-
the planned fast has been called for by misslinda to start on the spring equinox = mar 21 .
but like last fast i started a few days before everyone else and you just start posting on the thread misslinda creates to get the ball rolling . i quit at 20 days , misslindas still going at like 55 . so everyone just goes their own distance and utilizes the thread to back each other up and exchange info / experiences .
and im wondering if you like your cuisinart blender , because ive been considering the one that sells for about $100 . is that the one you got .
does it have more power then the basic $30 types .
