Not to be redundant, but i really think Alissa book, living on live food is the one to give someone. It is down to earth, straightforward and inspiring. She is not a "weirdo raw fooder living in a tree talking about spiritual mumbo jumbo and expecting you to live off of a piece of fruit and plain veggies." that is how a friend of mine put it.

I think she has the ability to reach all kinds of people.
Her recipes are simple and fantastic and she has testimonials of other 'normal' (you know what i mean, by most peoples standards) people in there.
She also has a guide that walks you through it.

If you really want her to go raw tell her to watch the DVDS. They are so fun and 'normal' and it just makes eating raw seem so easy and make sense like 'oh yeah, this is so easy to lose weight and get healthy, its not weird at all'.

Wow, i think i just wrote a great testimonial. But i just have never seen any other book and DVD that presents it like this that so that mainstream, so-called normal people would be attracted to it. There are a lot of other good books out there but nothing like this material that will really attract mainstream society.
    Do you guys agree?

Default what are your fave web sites

yeah i def agreee in fact i said to her the book i want to give you first is too heavy for me to bring on the train so will have to wait till you are here cos i thought it is easy and down to earth..

maybe then the question i need to ask you is what about fave websites with some articles i can print off or email her ?

    Default I liked rawfoodinfo.com

It inspired me to get here... and do this way of eating. I enjoyed the pictures and most of the stories were very inspirational! I needed to see other compulsive overeaters having success on this or I wouldn't have done this!

Alissa's sites are good starts........and not as heavy as the book. The site was what helped me...I had been raw and just couldn't do it. When I wanted to try again, I found Alissa's site. She made it sound simple and the pictures looked so yummy.......I was like "this is raw??!!" Also the testimonials were helpful. They all seemed real and normal (until I came along ) and seemed to have the same issues as I did. I was so impressed with their progress in health not just their weight.

needs updated and the blogging isn't active on this part. I've met that goal and started new goals! It's a lot of history though....

Default Oh Kristi, I think you'e pretty "normal"!

I was thinking about the many levels of "raw vegan" - I have always looked rather conservative on the outside, but on the inside it's a whole 'nother ballgame! What I love about this is that there are so many facets of it that can appeal to the "normal" or outside of "normal" person, it's truly wonderful. You can chose to be spiritual, or healthy, or thin, or all of the above. You can be somewhat raw, mostly raw or completely raw. I love that I don't have to go through a whole shabang explaining to people what I'm doing. Eating a salad at lunch time (at least here in NYC) is VERY normal. No biggie that I don't put a ton of meat, etc. in mine. When I get home I just tell my husband I'm not very hungry and I eat some fruit and off I go. Of course weekends are a bit more challenging! My dh is mostly supportive and my dd just thinks I'm crazy (she's 20) I'm counting on my example (losing weight, gaining energy) to prove I'm much more than sane!

    love to all,
    Melissa
