    Talking Raw green beans.

I'm going to feel silly asking this but are raw green beans okay for the digestive system? I used to watch my father crunch on them raw from his farm garden and I never did thinking that the fuzzy skins on them would be too tough on the human system. I really love them though! I could eat them raw too. Yum yum but to even eat a serving of them once a week.. is that okay raw?

I think it all depends on how you feel eating them. I eat them straight outta my garden in the summer too! And feel fine doing so. Maybe if someone had a really sensitive digestive system it might be more difficult digesting...

U know the saying "if it feels good, do it"? lol

Sure you can eat them raw. However the best tasting ones are the Haricot Verts. They're slender and tender. Tougher ones like Blue Lake can have a bit of a woody quality to them. Eatable, but I can only have a few at a time.

I marinated some in tarragon pesto for christmas but we didn't like them so they're now in the freezer. They were really tough to chew, that's great if you're able to eat them, you're lucky. I should think they're very good for you - they won't be harder on the system than nuts and seeds and sprouted grains.
