    Default Razzleberry....raw in NZ

    Hey Razzle,

i was wondering if there are raw potlucks anywhere in New Zealand that you know about, or that you go to. I figure it would be a fun way for me to meet raw ppl when i come there next month.

    thanks

That's a very good question! And to tell you the truth I have no idea

Yesterday I went to the only whole-food store that I know of in Christchurch, Piko and looked at the noticeboard outside. There were absolutely no signs about raw-food there and when I asked one of the ladies working in the store where 'cocao nibs' were she was like 'whaaat is THAT?!' they'd never, ever heard of them. They checked their whole stock list. Never had them, ever! (We only JUST got agave at Piko..so it shows you the slooow process over here. We are always last with things!)

I googled for a bit and found this; http://www.greenpeople.org/searchRes...fm?memid=18627 we could always email them and see what they say. I agree it'd be cool to meet other raw foodies!

I could get a bunch of my girl friends over and we could uncook for them! Haha, I told them I'd make them all a raw cheesecake. My friend Jess said, "Are raw eggs healthy for you? Like more protein?" Poor dillusioned wee thing!

Good to know there is a Whole Foods in christchurch...i didnt know they were all the way on the other side of the planet! lol

as for the link....it kind of sounds more like animal cruelty activists....to me anyway.

But i like the idea of getting together and we could create a bunch of raw goodies for your friends to bring them "to the other side", lol. Ill be there from Feb-Mid May.... could i send u an email ?

That'd be fun, even my boyfriend and his family try all my raw creations! Luke (that's the boyfriend :) ) has agreed to take on 'raw wednesday'! But NOTHING that I've ever made would match up with what you've done - I'd be honoured to work alongside you!

Question Hey there, I wonder if Alissa's recipes can be done in NZ?

    Hello Melissa

I'm moving soon to NZ (New Plymouth), in March, and I wonder if you managed to do all the raw recipes that we can find in the books? Because I guess we cannot find everything in NZ, probably the climate is different from the US. I'm new to raw and I can't wait to uncook (because since 9 days I find it quite monotonous to eat only fruits and vegetables like this, without any preparation). I will need to buy a blender first and hopefully I'll be able to buy a dehydrator too. Where did you get yours? Do your recommend a particular address?

    Thanks!
    Helene

    Hi there,
I've been living in NZ for 16 years now and although you don't have as much choices as in the US you still can get a lot here.
We've sourced great blenders, agave syrup, we bring in the cacao nibs and you can even get young coconuts. And of course you can get dehydrators, especially the round ones quite easily. For the excalibur, if you want a new one, you'll have to get that one from overseas. We got our one from Sheryl in Australia!

    Default Wanaka

I live in Wanaka South Island. i have founf that there is a very healthy outlook on life here. Organic products are easy to get yet pricey.
There is a good selection in most places.
I order organic produce through a home based ordering service. It works well.
You can try www.commonsenseorganics.co.nz or .com i can't remember.
    good Luck

    Thanks for the URL MaeganOrtiz!
If it's too expensive for us we'll eat the locally grown products first and only buy the ones we can't find in Taranaki.
