Default EasyGreen really confuses my previous understanding of sprouting

When manual sprouting beans using glass jar, the beans need to be soaked for 5-10 hours prior to sprouting. If I use Easygreen and follow its instructions, there is no soaking involved. According to EasyGreen Support Team, "the misting and oxygenating delivered by the machine will do the job". I'm so confused and don't understand why soaking is not needed if one uses EasyGreen.

Soaking simply keeps the seeds wet. In a natural situation the seeds wouldn't be immersed in water, but in wet or moist soil. Misting fulfills the same purpose by periodically spraying the seed and keep it at the same level of moisture that it would be at in soil. We soak the seeds instead of misting because it is easier to do and there's less likelihood that the seed will dry out....the seed needs certain conditions in order to germinate and it won't do so without a certain level of moisture.

Thank you Mongomango! You explained it so well, and you have completely cleared up my confusion.

linda1970, thanks for the number. I asked them how often to clean the machine they said every few months. That makes the machine great to use. I thought I had to clean it weekly which was a pain. I've been growing alfalfa and green lentils so far and love it. To Stina, yes I would reccomend it. It's nice to have fresh sprouts every day.
