    Default Sprouted lentils

I'm making sprouted lentils for the first time and did a search on how to use them. I found an old thread started by someone who got very ill after eating them. The lentils I'm using are from the grocery store, nonorganic, and not specifically for sprouting, though mine are growing tails. Do you think they will be okay to eat? Thanks!

Yes, I sprout lentils quite a bit. I put them in a food processor with an equal amount of sprouted sunflower seeds, a spoonful of both cumin and curry, some salt, oil and sometimes some garlic. Then to thicken a bit, I add some ground flax seeds (about 1/2 cup to about 2 cups of the lentils and sunflower seeds). They taste fine as is, but I like to dehydrate them, so they get a little crust on the outside.

Thank you, I will try your suggestion. I usually keep those ingredients on hand. Where do you buy your lentils to sprout? Are they organic? I bought these because they are cheap at .69 a bag.

If they're sprouting they should be fine to eat. I buy organic ones from sprout people. Have never gotten sick from them. I make sure to rinse them frequently and drain them well.

Alissa's "chick-un patties" calls for sprouted lentils.

I have experienced and read of others getting sick on raw sprouted black beans. I have never heard of any problems with lentils. Enjoy - they are yummy!
