A few years ago during my first try at sprouting I bought these plastic greenhouse thingies called a "sprouthouse." They were about the size of a hat box and cost about $25. They turned out to be a pain bc I had to rinse them out in the tub, which was cumbersome and drippy -- lot of walking back and forth from the kitchen to the bathroom -- and they got moldy a lot.

    Stopped sprouting for several years.

Just recently, I bought a couple of "easy sprouts" at sproutpeople.com. These are great bc they are about the size of a Starbucks mug and you can soak the seeds, sprout them AND store the sprouts in the same container in the refridgerator. I haven't messed up a batch yet. They are easy to clean and I would definitely recommend them. So far I've made mung beans and buckwheat sprouts. I just ordered some alfalfa and lentil seeds so I am going to try those next.

    Default Thank you

I do know which ones your speaking of, had my eye on them when I first started looking, but knowing someone that recommends the product is a plus. I will order a few.

I've just made my own "sprouter" from the plastic 1kg buckets that I buy my honey in. Just got DH to put lots of little holes in the lid and bottom with a nail (yes, I could have done it myself, but somethings are just BLUE JOBS in our house...lol!). I can wash them and use the handle to hang it over the spout of the sink, so it drains there. Then can put them in the fridge when the sprouts are done. Have only used them for alfalfa & lentils so far though...

    Default Bowls :-)

I have been sprouting ala Alissa, in bowls. It works just fine and dandy. I have a mesh strainer that I use to rinse them 3x a day..... I just did Wheat and Rye. Worked like a charm.
