Gained 10 pounds with broken foot
It has been over 10 weeks since I broke my foot from a horse fall. During that time, I have been trying to stay raw as much as possible, and to do some exercise here or there.
I basically gained 1 pound a week, (I ate a lot of coconut butter, almond butter, and olive oil) and I would like to lose those 10 pounds in half the amount of time it took me to gain them. I am going to start working out every other day, but I can't do any cardiovascular exercise since my foot is still mending.
What would you all recommend as a diet to use to quickly release 10 pounds without fasting? I know I need food to continue the healing process of my foot.
Should I eat mainly fruit? Should I eat only fruit? Should I eat only veggies? Do I need to remove all fat for a while? Please help!!
My current weight is 128 and my goal is to get back to my original weight of 118

you could try good food combining that always helps me to shed some pounds. I have found the best combining is pineapple for breakfast and lunch and then salad for dinner but don't go back to fruit after you have already eaten other foods. The book for food combining I've read is called the "The Hollywood Diet" It's great for learning more about food combining.
Good luck!!!

Thank you so much!
I have been doing really bad about food combining, raisins with apples sometimes
I am going to have to really work hard on getting back to good food combining. Before my accident I did a good job with it, but I just got lax.

Raisins with apples is not the worst food combining you could do! I did some nuts and dates last night together...OH MY did my stomach hurt all night!
Why can't you fast? That's healing, but then again, maybe the detox would interfere with mending a broken foot?
I would say cut down on the fats some. Some people can tolerate a lot while others can barely have any. Each body is different.

I can gain 10 pounds by looking at cooked food, LOL
this is what works for me,
I eat fresh fruit and fruit juices, and then greens for lunch with a light dressing of some olive oil and lemon juice, and some fresh herbs, that's it, but I don't limit my fruit intake at all and I usually eat the juicey fruits, like
kiwi
pineapple
mango
oranges
grapefruit
lime
lemon
I also eat a banana sometimes,
then for a salad I eat greens but that's about it, when I wish to drop my cooked weight, this does the trick,
I don't eat alot of nut heavy things or the like, but it is up to you, as each person is different,
I drink alot of orange juice too.
and lemonaid or limeaid

I wouldn't worry about my weight if I broke my foot, and I have had some pretty bad sprains. Heal up, ya hear?!

Make sure you drink sesame milk everyday to help get extra calcium to bend broken bones. Use unhulled sesame seeds. Make sure you sweeten the milk with dates blended with the seeds or with honey. I wouldn't worry about fasting, just heal. Try to eat right, food combine, etc. all these things will help.

Thank everyone so much for their ideas! Just by cutting down on fat for the past couple of days, I have already lost 4 pounds!! So now only 6 pounds left!
RP, all of your fruit ideas sound great! I am going to the store today to buy some of those on your list, especially since oranges are coming in season.
Tvillemom, I have never tried sesame milk. Do you do 1 cup sesame with 4 cups water? Do you soak the sesame seeds in water too? I am very curious to try it.
I will keep you all updated, but I already feel much better and I have much more energy. I always find it interesting how just a few pounds can really change the way you feel.

Yes, eastersky, soak the unhulled sesame seeds first, overnight. In the morning I drain and rinse. In the blender I add my 1 cup of seeds to about 3 cups of water, and some dates. You will have to sweeten your milk, you could sweeten it after you strain it, or in the blender with dates....does that make sense?? I haven't made it in awhile, so I really don't follow a recipe, just eyeball it, and taste it!! Good luck.

Just had another idea: when you heal, you first lay down some temporary scaffolding, then have to get rid of it once the bone or joint is fixed. This scaffolding is protein, and you can get rid of it with bromelain. So get a pineapple and make some smoothies, including the core (which is where most of the bromelain is). Kiwi should work too; it contains actinidin, and last week or two I ate some and it ate my lip!
