I saw them in Food City where there is alot of ethnic food. They were green and had papery looking shells. I asked on here about them but don't recall getting an answer. I have no idea how to handle them. I only learned things on here - like sprouting black beans can make you sick - so I would no longer just go get something and try to sprout it without checking with someone with more experience. Remember someone on here had read about yeast being good and went and ate the Bakers yeast? Someone like me who just does not know! LOL!

A lot of grocery stores have a shelf where various dry beans are packaged in plastic bags. They may be called "garbanzos" instead of "chickpeas".

Another name is Chechi (sp?) beans. I am not sure that the dried ones are necessarily raw though since they may have been dried at a high temp. This is why I make sure to buy ones guaranteed to sprout.

This is an important point. You should be able to buy them any place that has bulk food section. Whole Foods, Wild Oats, or whatever large health-food supermarket type store is in your area. Isn't there a store called "Sunflower" or something like that in Arizona? I know there's one in Tucson.
