Raw Hummus Recipe and Healing...
Just wondering something...
Raw Hummus made of...
Lemons (freshly sqeeuzed juice)
Celtic Sea Salt
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
on Lettuce with cucumber
For two months, every day...Could that be the culprit of a cold / flu especially in the winter?
I wouldn't think so. Sickness is a form of detox. Your body is releasing old, pent up toxins and it comes out in the form of what we have learned to call a 'cold' or the 'flu'. That being said, variety is important in a diet and olive oil is generally not good to have too much of because it is processed and sometimes isn't even raw. You might consider eating the humus a little less than every day and maybe not using the olive oil (I make an awesome raw hummus with chickpeas, lemon juice, garlic, ground sesame seeds and a little water and it is very good, no oil needed).
Regardless, I don't think your cold has been caused by the hummus. You are most likely detoxing and that is a good thing. Releasing toxins is important. Try to embrace it and let it run its course. Don't suppress it with medications, just get rest, stay raw and drink water. Hope you feel better soon. :)
I'm not sure why it would be. Unless you happen to get sick shortly after you eat it every time. Then I'd guess it may be an allergy or a sensitivity to one or more things in the recipe. Hmm. I dunno.
Sounds like a detox. I have heard though, that some people do not believe that you should consume the same food too many days in a row. Maybe give your body a break from the hummus, see what happens. Last time I had "cold" symptoms....I fasted on juice, and I started feeling TONS better in just 1 day. I did not take meds like DH did, and I was better WEEKS before he was!
"Do you not know that your body is a temple of the HOLY SPIRIT who is in you, whom you have from GOD, and that you are not your own? For you have been bought with a price, therefore glorify GOD in your body." 1 Corinthians 6:19-20
Just a thought:
Sickness might be detox, but sometimes it isn't. Sometimes you're simply sick - if symptoms persist, I would go and see a doctor...
Every day is a new day - embrace it!
With all due respect...
Madmel, what does "simply sick" mean, though?
I realize that sickness can be brought on by various things that may or may not be diet-related...but the process of the body using symptoms to aid in healing itself or removing toxins/germs or whatever one wants to call it...isn't it still all considered "detox" as in, the body cleansing or attempting to cleanse and/or heal itself or just letting us know something in our body is not right?
Clumsy wording, rawkinlocs, sorry for that!
I just meant sick, as in cold, fever, ulcer - in a way maybe it's all detox, I don't know.
What I wanted to draw attention to is that not all the symptoms are detox caused by raw foods, i.e. the body cleansing itself, but that it can also be a desease that has to be treated in some way (reading: in a way that you are happy with and can promote, sometimes with meds and sometimes not).
Every day is a new day - embrace it!
I am a firm believer in - if it is not good for you your body will not want it and will cause you to lose your enjoyment of it.
Under what conditions? Because I still sometimes crave stuff that I know isn't good for me. Does this only work if we're clean, and eating a prstine diet?

I have been noticing this lately so I am going to have to re-evaluate my cravings and remember my SAD disappointments.
But in terms of a food making you sick when there are not any obvious toxins in it - I think I can trust my body to tell me not to eat it anymore.
