Strepp Thorat Solutions?
Hi folks
Just back from the Doctor's and it appears I have strepp throat (they are sending a swab out). Have a fever, rapid weight loss over past few days and can barely swallow water (pain level is such it is hard to get anything down). They want me to take antibiotics immediately...
Currently have the following in my place: 1 bunch of kale, 1 big knob of ginger, 1 bunch of chard, 2 pears, 2 mangoes and, sunflower sprouts and pure water.
Any suggestions of what I should be doing? All advice would be appreciated.
Thanking all advice-givers in advance!

Every time me or anyone in my family feels like they're getting strep throat, we immediately gargle with apple cider vinegar. It changes the acid/PH balance in the throat so the bacteria can't survive. If caught early enough (and it's never too late in my opinion, it works pretty much 100% of the time to eradicate it)
At least three times daily gargle with :
1 part apple cider vinegar to 2 parts water
First gargle and spit, gargle and spit again then gargle and swallow. It eases the pain quite quickly too which is always a huge factor with strep. Hope you're feeling better soon.

I don't know what to tell you. I just had someone explain to me today that all her childhood strep throats created a coccus virus in her that attacked her kidneys and she ended up needing a transplant and she would have died if a daughter-in-law had not donated. Then her state would not allow a transplant and they had to travel to another state. I have a new respect for not tolerating strep throat. I guess I would go for the antibiotics and do the damage control later - for the antibiotics and not the kidney - but I am not so well versed in alternatives yet.
I am going to have to have my son try Walkin-on-Water's idea next time he gets it. I guess you could tell quickly if it was working and I always wonder what people did years ago before antibiotics.....maybe this is it.
PS: Since this is the season would you please let us know what works for you?

GSE (grapefruit seed extract) has been deemed as a natural antibiotic. Here is something you might want to take a look at: http://www.gseinformation.com/#strep
There is more on the 'net about GSE being good for strep throat amongst a lot of other things. I get the Citradal (sp?) brand from my local food co-op but you can probably find it in most health/whole food stores...white bottle with a red cap.
In addition to that, try to either not eat or eat very lightly (light juicy fruits) until it clears up.

Good old fashioned garlic....
My family has used garlic in every form to combat strep throat: odor free pills for the wimps in the family, garlic oil for those who want the concentrated stuff and aren't afraid of the garlic breath, and the ultimate purists take a clove of garlic, chop it up and swallow it with water just like a pill. Any of them will do the trick. Garlic is a powerful antibiotic, and won't cause yeast and other bad things to grow wild in your intestines like antibiotics will. We now have our fourth generation using it, and are all believers.
Good luck!

Strep throat, so-called, is nothing but inflammation of the tissues in the throat. I had the same exact symptoms you describe about 18 months after going raw. I did not have it diagnosed because I knew that my body was releasing toxins and was enlisting the cooperation of those areas of my body that were symptomatic. Diagnosing is an art that the medical profession practices in order to quell symptoms. Suppressing symptoms, however, is not "curing". There are no cures, and there are no medicines that "assist" healing. Medicines, in fact, only impede healing and stop the body from unburdening itself. Why do you want to force your body to retain that which it seeks to discard? You are not smarter than your body. In fact, your body is wiser than all the doctors on earth put together. It knows when it's time to decrease its load -- why stand in its way? Doctors do not understand this. They are trained to believe that suppressing symptoms is the same as healing. This serves the financial interests of the medical system but it does not serve US, for symptom suppression and healing are opposites!
When I had the symptoms of strep, I stopped eating and drank only small amounts of orange juice for several days, after which my symptoms ended and I went back to eating my regular transitional diet. Every time these kinds of cleansing events happened, I noticed I felt much better after the symptoms subsided than I felt before they arose. If you have this experience a few times, you too will be convinced that acute symptoms are cleansing and should not be stopped. Please be kind to your body. Let it do what it needs to do.
Warm regards,
Nora

Actually, strep is one of the few things that can be diagnosed without a doubt and without much confusion. It's a bacteria that can be seen under a microscope and - if it gets bad enough - with the eye itself simply by looking at your own tonsils in the mirror (which is not at all pretty). I don't know wether the true origin of it is what doctors think it is, or if it's maybe something that was already in your body and can be detected upon detox because it's trying to leave the body. It is a bacteria though, and not something that is often (if ever) misdiagnosed. Symptoms of it, however, are identical to many other infections as well as detox, so you can't know if you've got it without an actual diagnosis.
Bridle, I'm not sure what you should do...it's up to you. I do know that strep can turn into scarlet fever, so keep an eye on your symptoms.
I've heard some people say that when they get strep, they gargle Listerene as there's so much alcohol in it that it kills germs pretty easily, and that it's effective with strep because the strep is right there on your tonsils where you can reach it, so you may consider trying that. Good luck. If you find something that works for you, let us know.

thanks for the advice (more details below)
REALLY appreciate all the suggestions that have inspired the steps I am taking.
Had a lot of sleep last night and felt better this morning (fever broke). Went back to the clinic and the lab results from the swab show it is NOT STREP. The throat is severely inflammed and have a prescription for a chemical throat gargle thing (toxic if swallowed!). Also was told to buy some sort of cold medicine. All my glands are swollen and tender but do feel it is my body knowing what to do.
Had a young coconut smoothie this morning and am drinking green juices when I feel like it, taking more Allimax (garlic pills), zinc (to go with the C I'm taking to bowel tolerance) and lots of sleep. Am also going to go for an infra red sauna because it feels like the right thing to do.
Wednesday is a "big" day business-wise and have deadlines to make. Am trusting that all will work out as it should...
Thanks again for all the help and support.

I'll be really honest...
I think that almost all ailments should be cured by way of letting the body do its thing, resting, and fasting
Strep is serious though. I had it a few times when I was a kid, and my naturopathic doctor prescribed antibiotics becuase she said it was one thing she won't mess with because of the complications
soooo listen to your instints, and watch your symptoms

A lot of you were right!
All better this week. Slight enlargement of glands on left side (where the neck meets the face). Feel stronger and more energetic! Also continuing with a lot of greens (sometimes juiced) and infra red saunas.
Yeah for raw and alternatives...
