    Hey Lurker,
This is my 1st raw winter and even though I live in Florida, it still gets cold, especially when one is on the small side. I stay warm and satisfied with soups. I use lots of spices and flavours. Mushroom soup, Indian Spinach soup, Tomato soup, Great Corn Chowder from alissa's book, Just warm them in the dehydrator, I also make a lot of nut based dishes and warm them, remember to use a lot of flavours, that will keep you motivated.

    I still drink herbal teas.

And you can eat spicy foods like chili to warm you up.

This is my gfirst all raw winter and I'm just dealing with it simply. When I feel the need I eat more dense things like soaked lentils, nuts, avocados, squash, mushrooms etc. and I don't allow silly useless cravings to invade my mind. I stay warm by bundling up in warm clothes and taking slightly warmer showers but I don't warm my food at all because that isn't raw.

Raw fooders are actually more immune to the cold than cooked food eaters because we are properly fueling our bodies to create their own heat. Cooked food eaters constantly rely on warmth from their food and drinks and therefore, their bodies aren't used to creating warmth for them so they aren't as efficient.

The only thing that is a bit of a challenge is that their aren't as many fruits available right now so I'm a tad bored but I'm just eating more veggies and being content with apples, oranges and bananas (which are all at their best right now btw). There are all kinds of wonderful winter veggies right now, especially raw green beans mmmmmm!

I live in a warm climate in a large metropolitan area so I have no problem. I am wondering about people who live in remote regions in cold climates far from a store. How do they do it?

I live in New England and our winters are extemely cold!!!!! This will be my first winter raw so I amd a little nervous. I still drink herbal tea I can't give that up but I shop at a whole foods store and that seems to help because they always have fresh fruits and veggies and sometimes they even have raw food dishes. So maybe check out a whole foods store near you. If all else fails check out recipes in Alissa's book. That always helps me through.
    Good Luck and stay warm!!!!!

I use more warming spices...and peppers (like jalepenos) to warm up my soups and chili...and even your pates! Just use a small amount of chili pepper (powder form) or an actual pepper (just use alittle) to heat things up. Your body is actually fooled my the warmness or heat of the pepper to think its a "warm" food.
