Good Morning After Turkey Day!
How did everyone do?
I pretty much remained high raw... except i put my pumpkin pie in my convection oven and it got too warm well over 115% but the pie turned out good and my husband loved it. We also had a dish made with diced sweet potatoes softened in my convection oven and onions chopped with diced avocadoes and orange peppers and red tomatoes all mixed together. It made a pretty plate .
What did you all have?
i had tons of fresh fruit prior
then at the meal I had a big big kale/endive salad (both fresh from gardens...one of a friend the other of my grandmother) topped with chopped apple and fresh cranberries. yummmy.
Happy belated thanksgiving everyone!
"Once we have reached our destiny we understand that it is different from the dearest wishes of the beginning, it is much deeper, broader, sometimes greater...either we understand or we sail on, and on, and on."
I stayed raw! I made Alissa's noasted turkey and cranberry sauce. The noasted turkey was incredible! It tasted like regular thanksgiving stuffing. I didn't feel like I was missing out on anything. I also made a macadamia nut pie. I totally overate on raw but I was happy to stay raw and not feel like I was missing anything. I still have half of the pie left which is not a good thing. I can really overeat on raw treats.
I didn't get too many comments from the family so that was very nice.
I stayed raw which I am very thankful for today. I had a very nice fruit salad in the morning and some walnuts. For dinner, I had a green salad. I am so thankful for this way of life.....
I'm VERY happy to report that I stayed raw too, as well! That is huge for me because yesterday was only my 2nd day of 100% raw - I've really been struggling lately. I've been trying to do mostly green smoothies but as a "treat" yesterday I had some of Alissa's pizza, and bananas. I brought my green smoothie stuff to my MIL's and used her VitaMix - that was sooo nice! I just have a normal blender that is starting to shut down....need to get a new one soon.
I got a kewl compliment! My SIL who I haven't seen in almost a year, said I looked beautiful, like when I was 18 (I just turned 30 the other day). I told her thankyou SO much - I've really been working hard to lose weight and I want to be an attractive wife to my husband, not a haggard looking wife who has had 5 kids in 6 years, you know? She said Oh my gosh, you ARE! You're curvy, you look so good, you're a "babe".
She's super sweet, but also not the kind to just give out compliments to make someone feel good - she'll say it if she really means it. I've heard RP talk about people saying she looked younger - how FUN to have it happen to me yesterday.
Yay, we did it!!! I already posted this in the November superstars thread but it seems appropriate here too:
To my great surprise, my husband prepared a raw Thanksgiving meal for us yesterday. I was not expecting this, since he had bought a Tofurkey for himself as he does every Christmas and Thanksgiving (he is vegan). However, he said that he wanted to support me wholeheartedly in my staying raw this holiday season, and said that my staying raw without being around temptations was more important than him eating that old tofurkey. I was like, wow, he really loves me!!!!
He made a Caesar's salad, gazpacho soup and some pizza. That's the good news. The bad news is that this raw meal gave him indigestion and he ended up with a stomache ache and then fell asleep around 8pm!!! Hmm, maybe it was just too much raw goodness and fiber for his junk food vegan insides to handle! (He lives on veggie burgers and baked potatoes). I ended up watching "Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector" all by my lonesome. And we didn't even get to the dessert, which was banana ice cream with chocolate sauce and pecan bits (guess I'll be having that tonight!).
He was a good sport about it though. I said "Aw, this is probably going to be your first and last raw Thanksgiving." He said, "Nope, I'm already planning a menu for Christmas.
Then he said something that really floored me. He said, "I think I'm headed towards being raw anyway, it seems kind of inevitable."
I've been raw for two years and have NEVER tried to get him to eat the way I do. Maybe it's bc he sees how healthy I am when I eat this way, I dunno. But for him to even consider it is awesome. He loves his tofu hot dogs. And the one time he tried to go raw, he lasted three days, was grouchy the whole time and afterwards he said those were "the worst three days of my life, even worse than when I got run over by that truck in '89."
So, go figure.
Anyhow, I'm so glad I stayed raw. The holidays have always been my downfall, so it looks like finally I may be breaking that pattern.
haul that hammer up over your shoulder.
swing bolder, and bolder.
Isn't GREAT to set your mind to something and carry it through.
Just to think how we use to feel, all bloated and sleepy.
I've been born again and feel happy about it.
I look at the pictures of people on tv that have eaten a big Thanksgiving meal and i'm glad i'm not "One of Them".
I stayed raw!! Had some fruit & berries, 2 salads & some onion bread with eggplant 'bacon'! I was completely satisfied & happy! I feel phenominal! Been all raw again for over 2 weeks now!
I had made a delicious fruit salad to eat, but I was actually sick in bed with nausea and a headache while my family ate, so it wasn't hard for me to not eat cooked! Afterwards my sweet boyfriend brought me over some raw pecan pie he made! Mmm! It felt so good to not eat anything cooked! last year I had a few bites of rolls and potatoes, but this year I only ate raw!
I had....lemonade! WOO!
Eh. Yesterday was day 1 of the master cleanse.
I was all raw except for the dressing
(all ingredients were organic, though).
I made a traditional dinner for my family and I drank a smoothie (and dipped into the dressing). This is best I've ever done on a holiday meal. Each year I get closer and closer to all raw. Hmmmm, maybe Christmas dinner will be all raw this time! My sister-in-law is making the dinner and she puts meat in her dressing, so I know I won't even touch it!
I love reading your threads! I get braver and braver at each meal too! I avoided the stuffing (meat in it) easily....Hey, maybe if I just dumped meat all over my temptation items like pecan pie that my husband "specializes" in....I'd not even desire it! Great idea!!!! I did learn mashed cauliflower is not good as "leftovers" the next day....SOUR! so I was bummed when everyone else had leftovers and I was already to dig in too......sour cauliflower is just NOT GOOD! Oh well, live and learn! My salad was great! You are all so reaffirming! i love it....and need the support!

One day we will both be able to sit down to a holiday dinner and not even be phased by the dressing and/or pie!!!! Won't it be great when we just naturally don't want it! Sounds like we're both not to far from this becoming reality.
cooked for the family and loved the fragrant smells in the house but....
all raw day for me and i loved it.
omar made a raw almond hummus for me the day before that i took home; honestly my plate looked more beautiful than any others on the table
this was a real celebration of the blessed abundance of beautiful raw food.
My heart is singing for joy this morning! A miracle has happened! The light of understanding has shone upon my little pupil's mind, and behold, all things are changed!
