what are your thoughts about teeth brushing, flossing, cleaning teeth, etc...
im curious what you guys all believe about the teeth in general. do you believe we can eventually get to a point where just chewing on the fruits will clean our teeth, and we wont really need to brush because we dont have any toxins or odors?
the only "updated" or revised teeth maintence program i've heard about is Victoria Boutenko's family brushing their teeth with some oil. but other than that i haven't really heard of alternative methods to cleaning ones teeth.
i haven't really thought about what all those chemicals in the toothpaste do to our mouths. they probably stay and leave a film on our teeth. i use Toms natural toothpaste, but still, i dont think in nature our teeth wanted a film of glycerin over it. ?!? any thoughts :)

I brush my teeth with just water, probably doesn't make much difference.

They seem ok to me - dentist never complains.

I actually like the IPSAB line of tooth products. Its a tooth powder, oil and mouthwash. (its based on the readings of edgar cayce, which means little to me becaus it is scientifically a sound concept, but thought others may appreciate that)
Tooth pastes have glycerin in them that can prevent remineralization of teeth, which is a big deal if you need to rebuild them. I have also heard good things about www.themouthdoctor.com but I have nevr used their products.
I agree with the breathy one, water is fine so long as the teeth are healthy to start with. The above will help rebuild teeth tough.
God Bless

I won't use anything other than a natural bristle toothbrush. Once you try it for a week & then try brushing with plastic again you will never be able to go back! The differene is AMAZING. I use toothsoap or just brush with water. I do believe that we can eventually get to a place in our health where we no longer require brushing. Look at all other animals. They have perfect teeth without brushing unless we feed them unnatural foods.

I've been reading lately that our saliva will remineralize our teeth if we keep stuff out of our mouths long enough. Still need to clean 'em. My teeth are so much cleaner raw that it is sometimes hard to remember. Have seen Dr. Bronners soap recommended.

I can only address the question you presented in the title of this thread... and the condition of my teeth these days as assessed by my new dentist.
I am 60 years old. Lots of fillings. I had lots of decay and fillings when I was in the Army 40 years ago. I have several old crowns. I was at my dentist (who is also a licensed M.D. which is rather rare, I think) just this week to get two old and broken molars crowned. My gums were "hard to pack" because they were so "tight". The dental assistant could not "pack" them... and the Doc had to complete the procedure. He said that in 40 years of practice he rarely sees gums as tight as mine. I don't know if that is a good thing or not. Apparently it means that it is hard for anything to get under my gums.
Although I am not anywhere near 100% raw... that is going to take me a while... but, my diet the last 6 years has involved carrying apples and bananas with me all the time for snacking (convenient packaging, for sure) and I have been eating a very low/no fat and no sugar healthy diet for the past 6 years due to my terminal heart disease. The dental hygienist only had me in the chair for about 5 minutes for a cleaning. What a rip off!! I still had to pay customary cleaning charges! She remarked that I just don't have any plaque. This is a big change from years ago when I was eating the SAD. I could spend an hour in the chair. Next cleaning, I am going to demand a discount.
One of the non-raw foods that I still consume is popcorn. (going raw is a longer journey for some of us) It used to be that I had a lot of hulls stuck in my teeth... I don't seem to have near as much of that these days.
Anyway... my teeth are obviously cleaner these days and under less "attack" from the foods I consume. And my gums are obviously healthier.

I niticed that my teeth are so much cleaner since I switches from high raw to 100%.
I used to be constatly brushing them because they felt dirty, I also have a sony care elite power toothbrush & just about every thooth paste on the market. Now I rearely use the power toothbrush anymore, sometimes I use almond oil with a few drops of peppermint essential oil as a tooth paste. I brush my teeth much less and I noticed that my morning breath is not as bad.
My theeth are very sensitive, always were, so I have to avoid dried fruit.

Flossing
I think flossing is as important as brushing. A lot of gunk gets between your teeth and causes bad breath and tooth decay. Just quicly flossing between each pair of teeth once a day can make a huge difference in gum health.
The other thing I've discovered and use is a tongue scraper. However, since going raw my tongue is pretty clean. The tongue is a very good indicator of health.
To think that eating fruit will clean your teeth doesn't make sense to me. I try to drink water about 15 minutes after each meal and swish it around in my mouth to get rid of any remaining sugar or food. I brush when I get up in the morning and right before bed. I floss and tongue scrape before bed.
I don't have particularly good teeth.. when i was a child we were not taught to brush our teeth every day. I didn't learn about it until I was in school and by that time had lots of damage to my permanent teeth. I had a LOT of amalgam fillings (put in by military dentists) and they are all now removed and replaced. My 90 year old grandmother has ALL of her own teeth. I hope to follow in her footsteps so I'm taking care of them now.

Where do you get a natural brush and what are they made out of?
