I ALWAYS get puffy face if I eat cooked food. My husband too. I observed that in our kids too. And, I heard about a similar thing happening to other raw foodists. So, do not worry. Puffiness on cooked is normal. We only realize that we can look different when we become raw. In my first two weeks of raw, I frequently run to the mirror to observe all the changes in my face. I could not believe my eyes. And, luck!

but we cant just say its all cooked food can we? its a SPECIFIC cooked food, an allergy to a wheat or dairy protein correct? because there are plenty of people who eat junk and they do not get puffy, so it must be happening to me because im allergic.

its so messed up though, its not just the puffiness and the eyes, its like im a whole different looking person. i love it

Oh Lord, yes! When I first went raw...I would have many slip ups during the weekends. I would wake up Monday feeling and looking like I had a hang over. It was all from cooked foods. And I noticed some are worse than others! Example...Chinese food with msg! Ouch! Horrible stuff. This is a great reason to go and stay 100% raw! Use it! ;)

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO omg thats not good at all. that post you made totally changes everything for me...

i thought the puffiness is ONLY from SAD diet type food, why would our bodies react to fruit by puffing up?

this is so confusing. if people are getting puffy from fruit too thats not good, that means its not just the junk food that's causing it..

does anyone have remedies for getting rid of the puffyness if it comes? i read that swimming in the pool for awhile helps but whatever i dont know

    oh yeah I can relate

it was one of the biggest reasons I went raw - it wasn't vanity exactly, I just wanted my face to look healthy

however, I still wake up looking different on different days. haven't traced the causes entirely. being raw is such an improvment though

haha ^^^^ me and you need to hang out ASAP haha

no one else understands it for me. im not being vain, at least im not trying to be, i just care that foods are affecting my face and i just want to look like myself but everyone thinks im being vain because i took pictures and actually PROVED to myself that my face IS changing corresponding to what im eating..

but the fact that you are waking up looking different is still a problem. im so lost.....

whenever i swim in the ocean, no matter if im eating junkfood SAD diet, when i come out i look like the real me (like i do now, eating raw foods) but its so weird because i think the salt in the ocean got rid of the puffiness, its just weird that i had that same look even on SAD diet.. maybe its not the food

    Default Puffy face and feet!!

The occasions where I went out and ate SAD food for more than a day or two in row, my eyes and my feet/ankles puff up. I believe it's due to the high sodium content of prepared foods, since I rarely use salt when 'cooking' raw. The fresh food has such good flavor that it doesn't usually require any sea salt. But, that fast food and other SAD food is a killer. It probably doesn't help my lower extremities to be sitting all day at a desk, either...

toocrazy, a puffy face, lips, etc in the morning are due to detox while we sleep. If your face is more puffy the morning after eating cooked food, it's because you had more to detox while you were sleeping. I wish I could remember where I read about this so that you could go read about it. I wanna say it was the Natural Cures book...or it could've been freedomyou.com. I forget lol...but it makes perfect sense. Anyway, it's a good thing. Just shows you that your body is working to clean out the junk.

I think I was eating too much cantaloupe in one sitting and a tiny bit allergic: therefore the puffiness.

Certain foods give me the puffy look, raw or not. I avoid too many nuts, otherwise I will break out - raw nuts or roasted, doesn't matter.

Too much salt - puffy with small eyes ;)

I guess you can have a fairly balanced not raw diet and look great and you can have a fairly balanced raw diet and look great - it's not only the food we ingest but also genetic predisposition and individual reactions of our body.

I noticed that I look/feel best with lots of juicy vegetables, cukes, tomatoes and such. I am not much of a fruit person these days, I prefer greens and veggies plus lots of water and herbal tea.

Still on some days I wake up with a bit of a puffy face - but I guess that's just my body and I am not worrying too much about it anymore. I do some yoga and have cold/warm showers to get the circulation going and then I look normal again.

    cheers,
    madmel
