Default Which Vitamix is the best...

just wondering, I'm not up on the latest models of the Vitamix. What is the best one currently available, which one do you recommend/what features... 4500? 5000? or is there something better, or other features, etc...

I don't know which model number does what but if you have the extra cash I would deffinately recomend getting a model that has the variable speed feature. It makes life sooooo much easier!

Yep, get the one with the variable speed dial. I just upgraded from a 4500 to the Vita prep 3 for that reason. (The commercial version of the vitamix 5000.)

I love the speed control and it is even quieter than the 4500/5000 models - I guess because it is 3hp vs 2hp.

I totally agree. I do not add water or ice to my green smoothies and have to play with the speed to get it to move and stay moving. I think that if I did not have the variable I would have to add water.
    It is far more versatile.
I got the one that has the seperate wet and the dry container. I would hate to be without the dry one because I grind flax seeds a lot and it would have to be totally dry (including the lid) or the flax would stick to it and this would be time consuming.
I have to use cling wrap as a lid for the dry one because they only let you have one lid. For the cost it would not kill them to supply 2.

I sure agree that you'll want the variable speed, it is great! I got the Professional Series and love it, daily use and then some that machine gets from me!
