red palm oil
I accidently posted this in the 'other topics' area, so you might see it again. My question, does anyone here have experience with red palm oil. I am wondering if it's essentially the same as coconut oil. Can I add it to smoothies, that sort of thing. Any info is much appreciated
Thanks

Hi rawscal I know red palm oil has alot stronger smell than coconut oil. I have never taken both, but used them on my hair. Red palm oil is know as the budget mind Ojon oil, coconut oil is good for the hair. I think with coconut oil in food it does not change the taste much. But with red palm oil the smell alone can make you change your mind, at least your appetite.

Red Palm oil is the oil used in africa. It is a healthy saturated oil and good fer ya.....but like mystic said, it is....unique. It is definitely a flavor ya gotta get used to. Though so was coconut to me at first and now i dont even notice any taste at all. But that saw the red palm is healthy...if ya can take the taste. Clarified palm is easier to tolerate but lacks the vitality and health that the red kind has.

Interesting you guys saw the taste and smell is strong or distinct. I once dated someone who was from Cote d'voire and he used it all the time and I never notices anythin g but really good. I thought it look strange and now I see it being advertised as good for yah.
I hope when I come across it I do not enternalize you experience. I had none the first time but this is good stuff peanut butter and veggies used with it, I remember, and it has been over 20 years hmm hmmm good.

Good fats: unrefined red palm oil rocks!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For the discussion about good fats, there was not so much about unrefined
red palm oil, which is one of the best sources of carotenoids and vitamin E.
Just for information, not to promote or advise a brand the following:

can this be used on the skin? I put some on my skin, and although it tainted my color a lil bit (RED!), my skin was smoother than when I use coco oil...
any speakers?
Would it be better for hair use?

* I think it is possible Vandy, only there is so much possible on the skin,
that I ask myself what is most important for the skin, a certain kind of fat, or a certain kind of envirement (ph..?)
