Default Real reason for going raw?

I have been thinking about why this is so important to me. Yes- I have A LOT of weight to lose but to me it is more about aging well, Healthy and strong and vibrant, with the energy to move through life. For the first time it is not ALL about the weight. Anyone else?

For me it's kind of by default. I was trying to eat a vegetarian diet but chronic anemia kept me eating meat. I didn't want to do that. Then I learned that I was allergic to eggs, dairy and almonds. I learned that a dairy allergy can cause anemia. And in my case this does seem to have been the cause. I no longer have anemia

But what could I eat? Someone suggested a bit of polenta for breakfast topped with tomato sauce and pumpkin seeds. I bought both raw and roasted seeds. Hated the roasted ones but loved the raw ones. Couldn't eat the polenta very often because I have diabetes and have to watch my carb intake. So mainly it was raw pumpkin seeds for breakfast. Lunch was a lot of raw veggies, sometimes with some refried beans or nut butter. Dinner was usually a big salad.

I then read a magazine article on the raw diet and realized I was already eating mostly raw foods. From there it simply became a matter of studying the diet and making further changes. I am still not 100% raw but I am getting there.

For me it was never about my weight. It was always about my future health.

My reason was for health...really as a preventative measure since most of my family (mom, grandma, aunts, etc.) all have a lot of the same illnesses - diabetes, heart disease, they're on dialysis, fibroid tumors, etc. I didn't want that for myself or my children, so I decided to do what I needed to do in order to break the cycle.

At first it WAS about loosing weight. But then even if I lost all the weight, I would NEVER want to go back feeling the way I did. My muscles used to get tight, I was over weight and slow with arthritis at 33... throw in 2 weeks of pms everymonth along with migraines.. now its about aligning my body in PERFECT HEALTH! I never want to feel that way again, no matter what size I am! I guess.. once you go raw and feel this great... why would anyone ever want to go back?

my #1 reason was def. for weightloss!!!! I admit it, hehe.

I've lost weight on other regimens, but I'd just go back & forth w/ addiction to all sorts of food. The thing is my weight was okay, & I was not feeling great. I felt ugly. People would say I should stop changing eatting patterns so much, but it was really a viscious cycle. It's too emotional for me to go through it right now. Let's just say I was never very satisfied & thought if I just lost a bit more weight...I'd be okay. It wasn't that at all.

With RAW, I feel happy & very energetic. I don't feel ugly & for the first time ever, I am so happy w/ my weight & how I look. I know vein.

Originally it was for health but I recently found out health wasn't enough for me. I was not losing & actually gaining weight so I gave up out of frustration. Now I am heading back to raw for health reasons & if i'm just meant to be huge on raw oh well at least I feel better in all the other areas.. All I know is it feels terrible not to be raw.

I have always been a fitness fanatic and I wanted to be a fitness trainer when I left school. Then at 17 I got CFS (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome), well after a few years of learning a lot about health I got over that, but I never regained that ENERGY that feeling of having what it takes to see things through. Not untill I discovered raw and juicing and clensing. Now I have that, and once I experienced having that ENERGY - there is no turning back.

For the health! I've seen my aunts getting diabetes, heartattack, they are almost all overweight and one of them died last year, she was in her fifties. I knew I was not going to go down that path and when I heard of raw it just clikced for me. I have excess weight to let go of and a lot of it has already gone and it is a really nice side effect! I would be lying if it was not also because of the weight, but health is the main reason. To raw and better health!

It was always about health--I had a heart attack last year and it's not something I want to repeat. And since I have been eating raw, I have had much more energy. I recently had my cholesterol tested and had a stress test last Friday so I am eagerly waiting to find out the results of both. The weight--I was about 20 lbs overweight--it just melted off, I wasn't even trying.
