Hi, my name is Lorie and I am a cooked-food addict
Alissa's 4-week plan, in her Living on Live Food book, gives us a great way to get started on RAW, with lots of great recipes. The best tip is to make sure you have more than enough food on hand, and take food with you wherever you go! In the beginning I ate lots of desserts. When I did "slip up" it was because I did not have food on hand or with me (at work, in my car) and I gave in to my cravings.
I just keep reading, and gathering lots of information, on RAW living.
I suggest purchasing the "12 Steps to Raw Food" book from Victoria Boutenko. I see she also has a new DVD - 12 Steps to Raw Food Workshop. (I purchased the Educational Package last month.)
In the book she says that we need to make up our minds to go 100% RAW and never touch cooked food again. If we go 99% we leave the door open. She also says that it will take at least 2 months of 100% raw to get past the *overwhelming* cooked food cravings.
That's what I am shooting for (one day at a time). If I can make it through November and December then 2007 will be a very RAWsome year for me! And the beginning of my awesome, RAWsome, future!
Whatever happens, I'm not giving up because I know I feel better on raw than I did on SAD ...
Just knowing you are not alone in your struggle, and hearing testimonies of others who have overcome the addiction (or who are working on it), makes a BIG difference :) You can do it!
