I love my Vita-Mix 4500 for my smoothies. It's a high performance machine. Does the job quick.
I do have for my wheatgrass a hand-crank machine. Wheatgrass should not be blended, but extracted. Mine has an auger in it and when you crank the handle, the grass goes through that auger and comes out the other end looking like a green dread lock. It is literally a rope of green.
I'm not sure if there's a machine out there that will do both, according to my research on both of my machines.
This is what my wheatgrass machine is:

    I really like it!

    veganforlife,
thanks for your reply. i do use my vitamix for smoothies. i am looking for a juicer to get that super smooth texture for pates. even the vitamix heats up a little too much when handling thick, heavy nut-based recipes.
i had looked at that hand juicer for wheatgrass, but was thuinking that i might invest in an electric one if it could tackle the pates too! so any recommendations would be appreciated.
    many blessings,

I use my VM for pates ~ or food processor. I wouldn't even think of using my juicer for them. I've got a Healthy Juicer and a Samson Juicer ~ both of which I use for Wheatgrass.

    revvell,
thanks for your thoughts. maybe i'm off about this, but my pates tend to be just a tad grainy, even though i use my top of the line cuisinart. i had been told that some chefs use a juicer to get it creamy.
anyway, even putting that aside, which of your two juicers do you prefer?
    many blessings,
    shelah
