    Default Egg craving

    Hi everyone,

I've really been craving boiled eggs (that still have a runny yolk) very badly lately. I can't stop thinking about them. Any suggestions why the obsession with eggs right now??

Eggs have B12. They also have lots of other nutrients that are good for brain function. I get the same craving.

I don't want to say anything crazy or against the idea of this forum, but is there anything all that wrong with eating eggs with the raw diet? I totally buy all the info about how dairy and meat are not great for you and even before raw I followed that wisdom, but as far as the moral aspects go I used to raise chickens and an unfertilized egg is of absolutely no consequence to the hen, so as long as you get them from a humane source no problem there... and then I have read a lot about how eggs are one of the highest protien content foods that is easy for your body to use. I have also read that they are better for you cooked than raw, not just because of disease but because raw egg does something to deplete your body of biotin, so from that standpoint I see wanting to avoid them because I too agree with the philosophy that if we are made to eat it we should be able to eat it just how it is, but I don't see it as a negative food, just neutral. However that is just my personal take on raw. (Postive foods=raw, alive plant foods, nuts, etc. Neutral=small amounts of fish, eggs, cooked veggies, cooked grains, etc.... basically whole foods that may or may not have been cooked.... Negative=processed foods.)

theres a green called by 2 names = ARUGULA OR ROQUETTE .

this green is carried in alot of produce markets and is also easy to grow .

and to me theres an egg yolk taste to it , it also has a bit of peppery or mustardy taste to it .

it goes great as an added green to lettuce in salads .

I don't want to say anything to get in trouble either, but if you are going to eat a raw egg, only eat the yolk. The white, as Tangerina said has undesireable qualities. That's all I am going to say! ;)

    Default deficient

Michigan Roman: I really like arugula and rocket but I don't think that they taste like egg yolk. Thanks anyway for the suggestion

I guess I was more wondering if I was deficient in a certain nutrient because my body craves them so much (and usually I don't crave any cooked food)?? Do you think that could be a possibility? If so, what nutrient do you think I'm missing and how could it get it from raw food?

There are people who eat a raw diet that is not vegan nor vegetarian, but this forum isn't in support of that ideal, so we like to keep the discussion of such things off of RFT and for other forums out there that do support it.

It's not a matter of "getting into trouble" nor is it a matter of whether eating eggs is right or wrong, but rather it is a matter of having respect for the principles of this particular forum and the intention of the forum owner who does not support nor advocate the consumption of meat, dairy or eggs (raw or otherwise). If one chooses to eat them, fine...but that doesn't need to be discussed here.

    Thanks!

Lisa: There are a lot of things that eggs may provide (protein, b12, etc.) but the fact that one craves a particular food doesn't always mean the body is seeking the nutrient...sometimes it does, but sometimes it doesn't.

Sometimes it could mean your body is cleansing or having withdrawals from old foods of the past. Sometimes I crave beans, but is it because I'm missing something in the form of a particular nutrient or is it because I'm simply just having a craving or something reminded me of them? I find most times for me, it's the latter

I craved Soy Chikin Nuggets EVERY DAY for two months when I recommitted to a 100 percent raw diet. I know there's nothing in them that I needed, I think I just craved the taste of the salt in them.

Could just be your body detoxing from the eggs you've had in the past. As your cells retrace and get into that junk stored in them you'll begin to crave that substance.
