    Default ....my weight is stuck

I love my new way of eating...I ate what I thought was healthy prior to this but was still letting negative foods in...

I've almost completed 8 weeks probably 99% raw, must be something that may have slipped in...I lost 9 pounds the first 3 weeks...and now I've been stuck...

I weigh 141...am 5'2"...would like to be into my 125ish...for a while I was probably way overeating nuts...I've cut way back on those...I'm having a fruit smoothy in the morning...fruit, flax seed...lunch may be a green smoothy...huge green salad for dinner...and alas, nuts and dates for evening snack...

I get conflicted information...some say, 'oh, eating raw and the weight will drop off no matter what you eat'...others say, 'oh, you still have to be careful'...

I do feel great...and my skin seems so much smoother...lumpiness is gone from my arms and my face is so smooth...so, yes, I'm very happy but still wanna get into the next size down...

Any suggestions, thanks from Huntington Beach, Elaine

I was eating raw, lost some weight and then held steady. I'm not known for my patience! I am on Day 29 of my juice fast and I've dropped 27 pounds. You might want to consider doing a fast.....good luck!

    Default Nuts

I have been told that for some people that are trying to lose weight they may need to limit nuts or the fats.

    Default Some suggestions

    You can try -

    1) Instead of a lot of nuts eat more bananas.

    2) Lower fat intake or eat your fats in a fresher form e.g. avocadoes, young coconuts, raw olives.

    3) Limit dried, dehydrated or concentrated fats like nuts, oils, etc.

    4) Try not to combine fruit and fats. Miscombing food takes longer to digest and uses up more energy that your body can be using to normalize your weight.

    5) Limit or reduce salt and spices.

    6) Eat more water rich foods/water.

    7) Get in more activity - of the aerobic variety - walking, running, dancing, rebounding, cycling, skipping, etc.

All this should help move things out of your body. As your body flushes out the extra fat, food, etc. your weight should naturally equalize.

Change your thinking and thus verbage,

Get the results you desire by what comes out of your mouth not just what goes in.

From a nutritional stand point or bodies thrive on consistent caloric intake for burning stored fat, yet at the same time a metabolism that is challenged by variation, fasting and/ or increased/decreased physical activity will also some times trigger a jumpstar in weightloss.

Check that 1% that's slipping in and be sure you are avoiding hidden salts, MSG, processed sugar etc....

I swear by avacados and E.V.O.O... This is the fat of the Goddesses!!!!

It is, therefore, evident that it is possible to cure by foods, aliments and fruits; but as today the science of medicine is imperfect, this fact is not yet fully grasped. When the science of medicine reaches perfection, treatment will be given by foods, aliments, fragrant fruits and vegetables, and by various waters, hot and cold in temperature.

Thanks everyone....my favorite food had been portabella mushroom, guacaomole, slices of tomato, maybe a sprinkle of nuts or seeds...could eat them 3 times a day...thought I was over doing it so have been trying the smoothies...I KNOW I need to get better at varying my foods...and thanks for the reminder about food combining...

Last night for dinner I had a strawberry/papaya smoothie...here in So. CA...every fruit/veggie is in abundance...

...and that juice fast may be good for me...how many days did you do it...and what kind of juices???

Thanks everyone for such good feed back...love, Elaine

How about doing fruit only for a time instead of a juice fast? You'll get the benefits of the nutrients in the fiber/skins of fruit and the satiety (it will fill you up instead of pass through) with less than if you juice; juicing will give you more calories than the whole fruit. Drink water, in between, if you need it.

    Best,

....that's a good idea...eating the whole fruit...here's what I've been doing...like right now...I put a carton of strawberries and a persimmon in the blender...tiny bit of water, flax seed and psllium husk...is that okay???....I'm thinking putting things through a juicer (which I don't have) is different...I know at the health food store I go to...when I order a smoothy there...they're putting it through a juicer...ahhhhhhhh, so much for me to learn, and I'm willing...love, Elaine

Well I just happen to have a juicer so I do use it occasionally but I have read on here that alot of longtimers really don't use any of the equipment much at all - it is more for transition.

There are threads on here that evaluate equipment by the people who own them. I have heard that for curing major illness like cancer a juicer that provides optimum nutrition (by removing fiber and pulp) is best but for those not battling major illness it is advisable to leave the fiber in so using my $20 blender or a $400 Vitamix - both will leave the fiber in.

This is still all a grand experiment and there are many body types and so many answers. You may be temporarily stuck because the weather is getting colder and your body wants to protect you. Your body may have gotten a little frightened at the weight loss and has decided to hoard nutrition - especially if you have been at the higher weight for a long time. Then again some of us may get to a higher weight due to malnutrition - hunger induced by a need for some nutrition that we can either not get or not absorb in form we are getting.
