    HI GIRLS! (and everyone else!)
how are you doing on your different regimes?
I have grrrreat news: as it looks now, 8/1/1 is working!
My skin is getting better....almost as rapidly as in the beginning of raw!
Three months ago when I started all this I would eat a lot of fruit and not so much fat (don't like nuts that much), since I couldn't get used to eating a lot of avocados (which I certainly learned later on!) ...then when detox set in (acne) I freaked and thought that it might be due to my high fruit-intake...
I started to lean towards a high-.fat green diet and limited my fruit intake to sour apples, pears and oranges (and not many a day!) - after that my skin just didn't get better - so I limited myself even more- didn't help...
I just so badly wanted to have the perfect skin back that I had in the beginning...and now; I am on my way - I really think I am!
the pores on and around my nose are getting smaller, and the skin very smooth and even. The bumps on my forehead are virtually gone and the skin on my body is getting as soft as I remembered it being in the beginning of my raw adventure...
    Geez!! I love this!

    How are you girls doin'?

Ps. I still have a hard time limiting my avos - eat about 1-1/2 a day, but it is NOTHING compared to my fat intake before!

    Love alba (HAPPY)!!

ive cut out nuts and seeds altogether (when i started eating them heavily, and nut butters, my skin went out of CONTROL). ive been eating a lot more greens (a salad a day compared to none before), started eating bananas again (they have so many nutrients...), more strawberries and raspberries, and have added in SAUERKRAUT. which is raw from the company i get it from. and ive been upping my intake of green and red foods (bell peppers, carrots, squash..) for the vitamin a/vitamin c.

ive been using tea tree oil directly on my face after i wash it, and dabbing spots with oil of oregano. its really dried things up fast, and while i dont see any new breakout, i have quite a bit of healing to do from old ones.

i hear sauerkraut is wonderful for your skin bc its really high in sulfur, and it contains tons of good bacteria to help digestion.

im definitely seeing an improvement. just hope this healing speeds up bc right now i have a lot of red scabs (ew i hate that word) around my jaw.

but id recommend sauerkraut :) and lots of water. and ive been taking a multivitamin to make sure im getting my zinc. it isnt a whole-food one, its one from trader joes...mainly because when i was on the TJ one before my skin was alright..and then when i switched to a whole food one i started having problems. maybe just a coincidence..but i dunno. im gunna stick to the TJ one for now.

Glad to hear you are doing better EYB! How about your other ailments? Are you healing? Personally, I feel grat - I can really see a difference in my skin (knock on wood!) - and I have tons of Energy! nice...
I have started eating a Brazil nut everyday as you do - just to get my selenium up - and i take zink supplements, I have a feeling those are helping too..
all in all I feel grrreat - I have been wanting to cut out oil for a long time - had a feeling it wasn't the best thing in the world - I do eat Olives (black, salted, ecological and delicious! - and RAW most importantly) and avo - don't think I'm ready to give the butter of butters up yet - don't think I ever will be ...
    maybe I'm more of a 7/1/2 actually - but I feel fiiiine...
And you sungoddes - how are you doing?
If I were you I'd lay of those dates - they bring me problems too - lotsa gas n' stuff. not nice.

YES. need to lay off dates!!!!
    HOWEVER, I think 811 is definitely the answer (or... 7/1/2 :) )
I am eating NO overt fats right now, and want to get it to 10% (its about 3 or 4 just from fruits and greens these days) My skin is still not great, but I will take any improvement as a good sign!!!!!!!

I am so glad that both of you are seeing improvement too! I am going to start the "one brazil nut a day" thing and see how that goes. It will be so funny to go from eating 17,493,290,489,348,023,984 nuts a day to 1

I think I will eventually end up getting my fat source from avos since it is a fruit, and see what that does.

But EYB: the scab (ew) thing you are talking about around the jaw sounded like you were talking about my face. I know exactly what you mean. I feel like maybe that area is detox acne from your post before about location of acne meanings??? I never used to get acne on my jaw before raw.

I am basically giving Dr.Graham's methos a try for now. I am laying off the unnatural fats (like oils, even though I love them ). I need to start doing cardio more consistently and not overdoing heavy foods like dates Other than that I feel like I (and all of us) are on the right path. keep on updating!!!!

so glad to hear you are doing better Sun! that we all are - acne sucks bigtime, detox or not!
If you are not taking zink-supplements, I really recommned that - my friend take them for her acne and it has helped - even without change of diet...
so that might be worth a try!
Also, I love how I am able to eat all that lovely fruit without being afraid (yes, afraid -lol- of the sugar in them) - I ate 4 bananas today and loved how good I felt...

Oh yeah, and just for the record - I eat a lot of greens, and I mean a LOT!
    it's probably 50/50 w. fruits and greens...
I think that it is important too - I read somewhere that Victoria Boutenko found out thát apes eat like 45 % fruit and 45 % greens and 10 % larvas and beatles n' stuff (aint gonna go there just yet)
well - just a little reminder..
fruit is nice but don't forget your greens, they do wonders for the skin too!!

sun i think its detox too. ugghgh glkjsglkjsglkjsglksjjglksjglsd. (i hate detox). lol

right now im doing a LOT of greens..drinking a lot of greenish smoothies with about a cup of kombucha (raspberry or strawberry flavored usually), a banana, half a carton of raspberries, 2 frozen ounces of wheatgrass, and a tablespoon of spirulina. every other smoothie or so ill add a cupish of random greens - usually out of my bagged lettuce (im too lazy to buy it and rip it all up myself...). since taking the spirulina (...2 days haha) i actually FEEL a lot better..so far as dizziness and blacking out. more energy too. i was dancing around my apartment earlier...which would have been awkard if my roommate came home, but whatever lol.

i also bought zinc tablets today that ive started to take. ugh i feel like im living on supplements. but i have to say, my skin is slowly improving..it just needs to heal now. lots of water too..bought a water filter for my sink and im trying desperately to find a shower head filter that fits my awkward/unusal shower head. the chlorine in the water here is unbelievable..you can taste it and smell it..and it leaves my skin so dry and irritates - definintely think that may be contributing to the problem as well.

    linda how are you doin?

    Hello Gals,

Boy, do I miss this board. I was away from my computer for about a week because of moving & unpacking. So difficult to live without the Internet these days.

During the last 1 week, I ate almost 1 pound of dates per day and pretty much nothing else. Not good, I know. But it's the most convenient and satisfying food, something I needed during a chaotic time like a move. But you know what? Amazingly, my skin didn't get worse. Thank God.

I will start a more normal diet today, and when I'm more settled, I will incorporate my plan of daily probiotics, more greens, maca, & msm.

So happy to hear everyone's improvement. I hope we will all be clear soon.
    :)

    Hello all

I am on my fourth day raw and came across this thread. I have always had breakouts and such. I am finding my skin is a lot more oily sice I started. What I have tried in the past is a mixture of one part water to 2 parts oatmeal smothered on my face and left to dry. Once dry, wash off with warm water, air dry. Lightly rub entire face with a slice of fresh cut lemon. Try to get outside and get at least 15 minutes of fresh air everyday, helps the pores to cleanse themselves.

Would it be alright if I joined your little group?

I am not raw yet but have been struggling to eat a mainly raw diet for the last year. I had great skin until I was 23 (I'm 26 now). I have horrible acne around my chin and just recently it's traveling to the sides of my forehead! I always prided myself on being lucky and having good skin without hardly any breakouts. This is sooo embarressing for me. To get adult acne is horrible.
I tried the pill (the one for acne), Proactive, natural remedies, etc. etc. But nothing has worked.

811 is started to just slowly heal my skin (however, like you I ate.... like. a cup of sesame seeds last night... don't ask, it was a strange binge) So I should be expecting a delay in healing. However, my skin is NOT all better, just significantly better than before. I really believe that for me it is the fat. And maybe some overeating in general. But I think we have found the path! Now sticking to it is the struggle!

    hey guys

ive been reluctant to post bc i wanted to make sure that what ive been doing the past two weeks is actually working a bit

www.acnease.com ... its an all natural, chinese herbal blend the helps to straighten out hormones. definite improvement after about 12 days using it..supposed to see full effects after 30.

also to help heal the terrible (seriously awful) breakout i got about 2.5 weeks ago, ive been doing aloe vera gel every night all over my face before bed for about 4 days now..that has sped up the process of healing a LOT.

i also started to take an EFA supplement every morning a few days ago. my skin already looks healthier ... moisture wise too, and all over my body, not just my face.

at this rate .. knock of wood .. i should be clear by next week with my current routine.

    ill keep you guys updated.
