    How i do "811":
I eat fruit untill noon (mainly grapefruits and apples and bananas)
I eat a big salat for lunch w. a lowfat dressing and 1/2 avo
for dinner I have a green smoothie letuce leaves and fruit!
    and thats about it.
maybe I eat 1 avo/day but no nuts, seeds (execpt from 1 tbs. spoon tahini) or oils...

Welcome Linda - you may very well join! the more the merrier
I have a question for you? did eating 811 improve your skin-condition and did eating raw improve it or did it make it worse to begin with...
What I'm saying is, did it go from BAD (before raw) to better (on regular raw) to better (on 811) ? Or did it go from FINE (before raw) to Worse (on regular raw) to better (811)

    Love alba...

and I'll be the 3rd to say: Join the club Linda!!!!

    - my third day 811 was interesting... I am having really horrible gas- but its the first time in my life that it is completely odorless. hmmmm. skin seems to be the same- but I am willing to give it time. I have been really avoiding fats completely on these beginning days...

hey guys..posted this in another thread but thought id share with you and maybe you guys could look over your nutrient intake too and see if this is all related somehow?

"well...this morning i may have figured this whole thing out partially!

ive been using fitday.com to track my food intake on and off for about 2 years. i used to use it to track caloric intake, but stopped sometime during this last summer doing it consistently and have since only used it occassionaly to get a general idea of nutrient intake.

well..i was all fine and dandy when i was in rome a year ago, and it wasnt until i came home that my health started challenging me. dizziness, fatigue, headaches, and acne are the things ive since battled with.

this morning i went on fitday and went to the calendar and went all the way back to last year when i was in rome. i looked at which nutrients i was getting a LOT of: vitamin a, vitamin c, vitamin b-6, selenium and magnesium were the big ones. this continued pretty consistently all through the months of that semester.

i then went on and looked at the nutrient intake during the second semester while i was in switzerland. my vitamin a levels dropped, vitamin b-6 levels dropped, selenium levels were almost non-existent, and magnesium levels dropped! i thought hmmmm..

i then took a look at what i had recorded for this past summer, and low and behold..the ONLY nutrient intake still up there was vitamin c.

being low in selenium and magnesium can lead to headaches and acne, and low in vitamin b-6 can lead to fatigue and dizziness.

while in rome i ate a LOT of egg whites, a lot of red peppers, garlic, and a ton of fruit - i was basically fruitarian. (i wasnt vegan yet..just high raw lol). egg whites are rich in selenium, red peppers in vitamin a, all my fruit in the b vitamins, garlics just great in general...etc.

so now i sit here and wonder if maybe im on to something... and if maybe all this trouble was a simple nutrient deficiency the entire time from not eating the right foods and being too stubborn to go get blood work done "

OH! and just came across an article that claims being low in vitamin b-6 can instigate hormonal imbalance. hmmmm...have we all stopped eating bananas? i dont remember..i thought smoewhere on here it was posted that people were not eating bananas anymore bc theyre hybrids..but bananas are high in vitamin b-6

Thank you all 3 sweet gals for the welcome. I feel good here.

Do you guys' skin become especially red and blotchy after washing your face? Mine looks presentable before I wash it in the shower. However, it looks very very ugly (the old acne red marks become very very red) after shower, and continues for about an hour.

I got ya. I think it went from from BAD (before raw) to better (on regular raw) to better (on 811). However, even if I weren't on 811, my skin could still be improving, simply because I was continuing improving on 'anything raw' (very very slowly). In another words, the 'rate' of improvement didn't increase after I changed to 811. Not sure if you know what I mean. I never detoxed, and I think it's because I transitioned to raw very gradually, rather than cold-turkeyed.

In response to EYB, That is VERY interesting. I hope that you find that adding in foods with those minerals and vitamins in higher concentration will help. I have been doing 811 for 3 days and hopefully the bananas may start to help!

As soon as I went on 811 I got swollen glands and a canker sore, both which are very painful right now. Detox? Coincidence?

My skin MAY be ever ever so slightly be improving on no fats, however... that isn't saying much... because its still really bad!

    Obviously only time will tell.

Linda: Like I just said above, i totally understand how its hard to tell what is causing what!!!! AH, hopefully we can figure this out!

    I think I get it
Happy news from me: I've experienced major improvements in my skin the last couple of days. I've never had cystic acne or anything of the like, but after going raw I got a lot of small whiteheads/sebum-bumps on my forehead and had problems around my nose area (under the eyes)...They are fading As we are speaking - my forehead feels completely smooth!
Thanks for sharing EYB- I tracked my food-intake on FitDay and I am gonna keep doing it for at least a week - I was not getting enough B12, B6, Selenium, Zinc, Fosfat and Iron - so taking that Zinc supllement is probably a good idea - last night I also took a B-complex - I think my skin has definetly improved drastically - either because of the 811-like diet or my new supplements...or just cutting out all those processed oils (allthough they are raw...)
    I don't know? I'm just hapyy!!

Btw, EYB - you said your nutritient-intake changed or decreased or whatever ...how did you diet change - did you go from high-fruit to low-glyc more fat diet or how did it change? Can you give diet examples from those two periods??

    Love alba

Ps. Sungoddes and Linda - I really recomend Fitday.com - find out which nutritiens you are lacking and maybe start supplementing or eating bigger amounts of specific food-items to get what you need

i was eating a lot more fruits back then..a typical day would be:

    banana
    apple
    grapefruit
    mango
    kiwi
    pineapple
    orange
    few walnuts
red pepper/zucchini/tomato/garlic (sauted in olive oil) (wasnt 100% back then)

moving to switzerland the following semester when things started to go downhill...

    banana
    dates
    almond butter
more bananas, more dates, more almond butter

and so it has progressed in a similar manner. i would go days just living on dates while in switzerland..the grocery store was very far and had a very small selection of organic fruit (which i would only buy organic fruit..but then i would sometimes eat cookies. im weird)

i think variety..well lack thereof..has resulted in the reduction in vitamins.

sooo now im trying to get that variety back!

today i had a few bananas, a soaked brazil nut, a zucchini, a tomato, a garlic clove, a red pepper, a mango..made into various salads of course..and then i went to a raw restaurant for lunch with my mom and had a salad, blueberry smoothie, raw pizza (flax crust i think, avocado sauce, sundried tomatoes, black olives, onions), chocolate cake (i tasted date, coconut, obviously cacao, maybe almond butter?), and lots and lots of water.

i havent had this much variety in my diet SINCE ROME...so i think that may be a BIG key. im also taking a multi-vitamin and a vegan vitamin d supplement...maca root..and something called lunazon for my hormones (all natural).

i just wanted to let you guys know, also, that ive been dabbing oil of oregano on spots the past two days..it STINGS/BURNS a lot for like 20 mins, and then goes away..but really helps with inflammation and wahtnot. its like tea tree oil..comparable to it.

and linda..YES. my face is terrible after i wash it or shower...we both much have sensitive skin. takes a good 30 minutes to die down for me...always.

I think 811 is actually doing something for my skin.... (however miniscule)

I think the only thing with 811 is that I need to up the greens to get all of the vitamins and minerals that I need. I am logging my food on sparkpeople so I can look at my levels there.

The thing right now with 811 thats not good (and it may be unrelated... or a detox). Is a HUGE canker sore, and a really sore tip of the tongue... white and red splotchy.

Anyway! I think we are all making strides!

Uhhh, poor you, poor me. I usually try not looking at myself after shower because it's just really scary. Looks like I got burnt.

Have any of you tried MSM? I know that helped a lot of people.

I used MSM forever and it never did a thing.

ME TOO with the bathroom shower thing. I rarely even turn on the lights after a shower for that very reason
