Default Apples and plums as natural system cleanser?

    Greetings,

I do not know if this subject has been touched on, but i wanted to get more information on natural (raw foods) system cleansers verses the drinks, powders, etc..
I have experienced (on an empty stomach) apples and plums as a system cleanser. Are there any other fruits or vegetables that can cleanse the system as well? Information and advise will be greatly appreciated :-)

We sure experienced the efficiency of plums this summer!! About 4 was plenty per day...they sure went right through! We're eating wonderful apples now that they are in season. We pick them right off the local farmers trees. Many varieties, only 40 cents a pound. We dip them in RP's infamous Carmel Sauce!!!! Yum-O! ;)

Tropical fruits with strong protein-disolving enzymes like Citrus, Papaya, & Pineapple are very cleansing. A standard diet of melons will really help with hydration, nutrients, and general cleansing action.

    -Just my opinion.

There is no such thing as a cleansing food. Fruits have this reputation because they are pre-digested, so they allow the body to direct the energy it 'normally' has to expend on digestion to cleansing old wastes. When we say "pre-digested", we mean that the amino acids are free, they are not bound together as protein (we don't even need protein, we need amino acids), their fats are unbound as fatty acids and their sugars are simple and not in long chains that our bodies have trouble getting apart (as in the case of starch, which is a long chain sugar).

The key to cleansing is eating foods that don't create waste. Fruit is at the top of that list, followed by lettuce and celery. Nuts and seeds create waste, but at least they are partially recognizable and usable by the body, if they are not cooked.

Food is supposed to be digested quickly, but if you have loose stools or diarrhea it means there's something in the digestive tract that the body wants to get rid of quickly. This can sometimes be the consequence of miscombining, because fruit that is eaten with other foods or on top of other foods can ferment and this process creates toxic by-products that the body seeks to hastily discard.

    Happy cleansing,
    Nora
