Is This You?
Ok, tonight I told my husband about my raw dinner. I had meant to make a raw spagetti sauce with zucchini spagetti. Well, of course, the sauce was more like soup...but wow...it tasted just like tomato soup you buy in a can. You know...that we have all dipped our grilled cheese sandwiches in!?!?! SO, I was thrilled with it. Noodles and all. LOL
My husband said, "What was in the sauce?" After I told him, he relied, "Shel, you were made for raw. You wouldn't catch me eating that stuff if it were all that was left on earth!" And he's right. I was made for raw food...experimental recipes...and the excitement of finding something new to add to my normal set of meals.
How about you guys? Do you stumble upon recipes of your own making or do you stick to recipes from books and on-line suggestions?
I personally try to come up with things that I would have liked SAD.
Are you like me? Experimenting in the kitchen?
What new ideas have you come up with and would you eat it again or never!

I own one raw book, Alissa's and I've been trying her recipies or variations there of. If some one mentions something here on RFT that I have ingredients for already, then I tried it. It's usually modified cause I'm always missing at least one ingredient.
Plus I make up stuff based upon cravings.
It is, therefore, evident that it is possible to cure by foods, aliments and fruits; but as today the science of medicine is imperfect, this fact is not yet fully grasped. When the science of medicine reaches perfection, treatment will be given by foods, aliments, fragrant fruits and vegetables, and by various waters, hot and cold in temperature.

Could you write up your variation for the now "soup"? please and thank you!

I love tomato soup
:) I would love a new version of the old favorite.
My favorite recipe is very simple and i can't go a day without it.
Sweet potatoes cut like french fries.
Coat them in walnut oil and coat them with Brewers Yeast and a dash of cayanne pepper and seasoning of your choice.
Place them in the dehydrater for 2 hours and take out when all nice and warm and slighty soft.
Had a dip of your choice, i like one that is sweet and sour mixed together and go for it. I will make this recipe over and over and will never get tired of it.
I never knew how good sweet potatoes could taste, they are better than the cooked version which was coated in sugar and butter.

Gosh no!
I think that's great though, and I wish I was like that.
Today, I've eaten apples, and one glass of green smoothie that tasted gross
I hate veggies, hate sauces, do not like nuts, picky about fruit.... I don't think I'm made for raw at all
I love how I feel on raw, just not what I eat

my_sunshine, maybe you just need to find the foods that suit you.
I've never liked salads, don't like veggies, and haven't ever been a big fruit eater. I've always loved grains - rice, bread, popcorn, corn chips. But I'm slowly finding things that I do love (like avocados and raisins that make a salad pretty good). I'm liking bananas and mangoes--and oranges, which I'd never been crazy about before.

That is a bit encouraging!!! :)
If nothing else, at least I'm eating really really healthy for me right now. When not raw, I eat crackers, pizza, cookies, pasta, and that's pretty much it

Well, I'm not sure anyone else would think it tastes as good as I do...lol, I will share. Roma tomatoes, 2 dates, a small slice of vidalia onion, small amount of olive oil, sea salt, a sprinkle of kelp, a sprinkle of basil and a bit of water. Blend until smooth.
If I had a dehydrator, I would make a mock cheese sandwich and dip-a-way!
Secondly, My Sunshine...why not make those SAD favs...only raw! Don't stick just to salads...and raw fruits...try making raw pizza! Alissa's book is incredible. Even if you don't use the recipes exactly...she gets your mind thinking...you know...what if I substitute this or that...and change it up just to suit my tastes! (or yours!)
Keep trying Raw...you will make it! ;)
Bethanie, that recipe sounds so good...I'm dieing! I need to go shopping tomorrow. That's the next thing I'm going to eat! LOL

Hi Shel,
:) Thanks for the recipe, tell me how do you make a "mock Cheese" sandwich?
I've never heard of that before but it sounds so good.
Glad the sweet potatoes sound good to you, we love them and they satisfy our sweet cravings believe it or not.
So tell me how to make the cheese sandwich :) please.

Bethanie, Ok...1st...I forgot, I put like a teaspoon of olive oil in that soup too. Oops...sorry about that.
Secondly, I was going to try making Alissa's Burger Buns...flat instead of bun shaped and then her American Cheese recipe. Slather the bun with cheese and put it back in the dehydrator for a little while. (As I don't have a dehydrator yet, on my way out to shop for one right now... ...I'm not sure if this will work...but I thought it was totally worth a try!)
I love this combo of cheese sandwich and tomato soup...and would probably have it often if it works. (With a side of your fries! LOL) Gosh, I just love food! It's so great to finally be able to eat and be full...without guilt. Raw Rawks!
