Default Once A Month Craving Killers!

For those who struggle once a month...that time of the month...and find yourself craving things....salty...sweet or whatever and can't commit to raw because of them, I thought I would start this thread to help give you some ideas from all of us at the board. How we maintain raw during that time of the month. ;) So to all you 100% raw fooders who have "that time of the month" suggestions to help us all stay raw, please post them!

My only salvation...Alissa's Raw Olive Tapenade! I make this almost every day when I am craving that something salty! I stuff celery with it! I have to say...it has worked every time like gang busters! If you are a salty craver...this just might work for you! Try it! ;)
I don't usually crave a lot of sweet...but for some reason I make raw ice cream...only instead of chocolate or fruity flavors...I add the juice of a whole lime to my bananas...and it tastes exactly like lime sherbert! For some reason this helps too! The acidic taste is a craving killer for me!

I can't wait to see what others recommend! Hoping to see a few that I can add to my own list.
    Raspberries, almonds & kiwi...oh,my! :D

This is a great idea, SS! I too, have sweet & fatty cravings during that time.

What has helped me every single time when I need something fatty OR sweet is coconut cream, which is ground dried coconut. For some reason, it completely satisfies both sweet and fat/rich/heavy food cravings. Not to be confused with coconut oil, which is just the oil of coconut. I like the Artisana brand.

I just made curried pumpkin seeds where I sprinkled a bit of celery salt, cayenne pepper, and curry and a drop of olive oil on raw pumpkin seeds, shook them up and you have a very satisfying snack food. I think this would be perfect movie snack food.

    Default Salad Recipe!

The recipe listed below posted by member "Kelly" is divine for these cravings!!! It's better than Midol or a hot water bottle!

Here is a yummy recipe. It is so light and refreshing. A terrific summer salad.

    Israeli Salad
    (http://www.recipezaar.com/135390)
    4 small roma tomatoes
2 cucumbers, peeled (unless you grow them yourself, then leave the peels on)
    3 green onions
    1/2 c. parsley
    1/4 c. fresh mint leaves
    1/4 c chopped fresh dill
    3-4 T olive oil
    juice of 1 lemon
    salt
    pepper

Finely chop the vegetables (or leave as chunky as you like) and mix with other ingredients. Great at room temp. Can also add a little garlic if you want. Also, almost forgot to mention, that I really enjoy adding a little chopped bell pepper. You choose the color.

    Enjoy!
    Kelly

    Default Curious...

Does anyone have any in-depth insight as to why we all crave these specific tastes during this time? I mean --- any reason that there is vitamin /mineral loss, etc.?

I have to have something with raw chocolate in it.

I made the fudge and the brownies that were listed on this site!

    Chocolate makes everything better! :)

SALTY...anything with olives or my kale/seawed /??? rawcrackers dipped in avacado that's been seasoned with garlic and sea salt only

Sweet... Raw corn sliced of the cob and eaten with my fingers. Or RP's brownies Yummy!!!

It is, therefore, evident that it is possible to cure by foods, aliments and fruits; but as today the science of medicine is imperfect, this fact is not yet fully grasped. When the science of medicine reaches perfection, treatment will be given by foods, aliments, fragrant fruits and vegetables, and by various waters, hot and cold in temperature.

Cold-pressed essential oils and herbal extracts...I do a blend of patchouli, orange, and ylang-ylang. Love the stuff. Completely kills PMS symptoms. Or lavender. Lavender is quite the wonderful thing.

I had to laugh reading all these. They are wonderful. Isn't it nice to know we are all the same! ;) And no...I have no idea why we crave these things every month, but I know that I do and I'm thrilled that I have even more ideas now to help me through them. Thanks everyone!

Thanks guys!! I usually crave a mock peanut butter and jelly sandwich. I use my flaxbread (ground flax seeds, water, cinnamon) and spread on almond butter and cuts two dates in half and mush it on the bread. If I am really craving sweet, I add some agave nectar. You will be totally satisfied after this one!!
