A few weeks ago I came out of the tub with my feet wet, slipped on the floor, and flipped my entire weight (over 700 newtons at the time) over my right toenail, about 10 mm past the tip (now closer to 12). The entire toe turned into a bruise and a bit of blood came out the middle of the root of the nail, but the nail neither broke nor came off its bed. I once lost the toenail for less than that.

My nails are as long as I like them (up to 5 mm, except the thumbs and right pinky which I let grow longer - the left pinky I need short for fretting), strong, pretty, and totally natural (including the color, which is henna). :)

The pinky toenails grow in or at a weird angle. I'll watch them and see if they get any better. The big toenails have become more symmetric.

    Default Nope

My nails are strong, but they have ridges on them... especially the thumbnails.. the length of the nail, not crosswise. Not sure what these mean.

My cuticles have always had small cracks, none now that I am raw. YIPPEE!!!

and my nails have been strong and long and beautiful always, no more or less now that I am raw.

My hair is what I want to grow longer and thicker, it seems like it is, then the next day it seems lifeless and thin, I'm not sure what is going on with my hair.

my nails have always been weak, breaking very easily, now that I am raw and before raw, and my mum is the same as me. I think it is genetic.

Mine are still dreadfull and like Rowen I have those ridges on my thumbnails. It is not an area in which I have seen any improvement.

My nails seem to grow faster now. Still pretty strong. My cuticles as RP stated do no crack any more.

Pierre - I just started to learn guitar. I am also letting my thumb right hand nials grow a little longer and my left shorter....

I've always been fortunate to have strong large nail beds, but just a couple of days ago I did a double take when I noticed that my nails are growing in WHITER! I can even see the line from the tips of my nails that I still have before I went raw and the whiter nail at my nail bed. It's really wild and something that I was not expecting.

I've noticed a positive difference in my nails for sure. I've always had nice nails, but they look all around better. My cuticles don't tear any more and my nails grow faster and are whiter. I have some ridges but they are almost completely invisible. They used to be noticeable. I've been 80-100% raw for almost three years.

I've always had weak nails, but since going raw/vegan, they've been beautiful, stronger, and healthy!!

Here is an interesting site regarding fingernails as a diagnostic tool:

This is such an interesting article. Thanks for posting it.
Just recently, my nails started showing ridges. I became concerned because my nails are usually...perfect.
I'm going to bump up my veggie calcium and protein intake and see if that helps. ;)

My nails look fine - but I have no moon-shaped arcs. The interesting thing is, the implications, according to the notes on the site, confirm what my doctor found - low calcium and possible hyperthyroid (or even hypothyroid).
