Doesn't seem like a coincidence
I wonder if this is related to the diet. Oh well, here goes...
A few weeks ago I was high raw, pretty much getting ready for the 100% raw thing,(which I started Mon. the 9th). I started getting these big itchy bumps all over me. They were like bug bites or hives and day after day i started getting them. They were on my legs mostly and i even got a cluster of them on my backside. I started to look around the house and in my bed for bugs that might be doing this, but I found none.
Then I went home to get married and from there onto my honeymoon. That whole time I ate cooked food, and the itchy bumps were going away. I came home with no itchy bumps. The day after I got home I went 100% raw. Yesterday I noticed that I had a bump on my ankle and on the back of my thigh.
This seems very odd to me. Has anyone else experienced this?
I'm wondering if it's an allergy issue. Maybe I'm allergic to raw nuts. I just don't know.
High raw gives these to me too, My opinion is they are parasites leaving the skin. I dry brush and use baking soda on my skin to clean it and it gets a bit better.
Could be allergies but dont close yourself off to the parasite thing. Nasty? yes but totally worth going through it.
Just do what your doing.. ask here, study others reactions and draw your conclusion. Might wanna see a natural doc..
Hope it clears up for ya :)
Well, I'm glad that I'm not alone on this one. I've always wanted to try dry brushing. Now I have to just get me to stop scratching them.
Early on i had a rash that covered the top half of my body.
my face, neck, chest, back and i almost forgot parts of my thighs. It was so bad i couldn't lay down or rest and sleeping was difficult, i itched all the time.
My husband bathed me in hydrogen peroxide and cloths soaked in oatmeal water it helped some but the bumps came back, they were like little needles, so as a last effort from relief from the pain he purchased some hydrocortisone, it really helped. Finally after 3 days they started to clear up and i've only had one other outbreak of them. This latest one was not too bad.
I've been high raw for about 6 months now. I have had a few rashes that have come and gone within days--Mostly on my face and neck.
My lastest rash has been all over my neck; itchy and driving me crazy.
This has been going on for over a month. I am glad it is colder weather
so I can wear turtlenecks.
Last week my brother (who is also high raw) suggested I put Apple
Cider Vinegar on the rash and guess what? It is almost gone now.
Please try the Apple Cider Vinegar. Just dab on with a cotton ball.
It has worked amazing for me. Give it a few days though.
It sounds like a very typical detox symptom all on its own, but even moreso when coupled with the fact that it went away when you went back to cooked food. We detox through our skin...so you definitely can expect things to pop up on your skin. Sounds annoying though! Good luck!
Those were my thoughts exactly. I sort of looked at it as an experiment when I went back to cooked then back to 100%. I based my conclusions on that. I will try the apple cider vinegar and the baking soda.

My upper arms have been absolutely killing me with itching in bed at night. i thought I'd got allergic to the washing powder I've been using for my sheets on the bed...
But little parasites leaving through the skin because of the de-toxing effect of 100% raw... goodness. Still, worth going to through to get rid of 'em.
I will have some cider vinegar by the bed to dab them with tonight.
Do you others find they're worse at night? That's the only time I really feel them, which is why I thought it might be my bedding...
Same thing with me lily. I even looked in my bed for spiders! LOL!
Right now,(on my lunch break), I am not ichy. It is usually in the evening.
If it is parasites you can help them leave by taking Black Walnut Hull. It comes in a tincture. You put drops in water and drink. Pumpkin seeds are also said to be good for parasites. Also try some sort of Probiotic- Sauerkraut, Kombucha, I think raw unpasteurized miso is considered a probiotic also.
Then for the itching I always use Peppermint oil straight. I even looked it up and peppermint can be used for this. I also put Tiger Balm all over my hand one night due to the intense itching and it was amazingly relieved. I have had eczema on my hand for a while now and it is finally stopped itching and is getting better. When it got really dry I put coconut oil on it for a day, then I have been keeping it wrapped. You might try a bit of coconut oil on one area to see if it helps.
This is all so helpful -- thank you, StudentforLife for asking this question -- I'd never have thought to ask, and that itching, it was driving me wild. It will be interesting to see what it's like tonight with some cider vinegar on it.
Thank you solarliving for those remedies -- I'm out to get the ones I can tomorrow.
Please know that dry sauna then rinsing with cool water can help too, don't use any soaps or shampoos either, just water,
but dry sauna will help it move out of your skin faster, also drink lots of filtered clear water, and that will help flush out the toxins, you can help your lymph move out toxins, by walking or moving too, and plenty of rest while detoxing
also a water fast, or fruit juice fast or veggie juice fast or just eating fresh fruits will help too, they are simpler foods and don't take as much energy to digest, this is what I do when I'm tired or have alot to accomplish, I find the less I eat the more energy I have, this never happened when I was eating cooked food, only with raw.
keep us posted on how you are feeling
Thank you everyone for your awesome input.
I wet a cotton ball with apple cider vinegar tonite and rubbed it on the ankle bump. So far it hasn't itched anymore.
I would like to try some of the other things reccommended because I would like to cure this, not just stop the itching.
I hope you don't mind me 'sharing' this post with you, StudentforLife, because we seem to be going through something so similar.
Dabbing my itchy upper arm with cider vinegar certainly helped me last night, too. I had the best night I've had so far. There are some little red spots coming up now which I hope is whatever it is on its way out.
Thank you too for your helpful suggestions, RP.
Funny thing -- after what has been said about pumpkin seeds being good -- I have been craving them recently even though i don't really like them -- but I've been eating them because one of my all-time favourite raw dishes is the Lesly Kenton 'turkey' in Alissa's book, with the cranberry topping -- can't lay my hands on my copy this moment, which is why I'm being vague about it. But it's soooooooo delish, and doesn't even need dehydrating.
I'll keep you posted...
I'm glad it's helping you too, lily!
I'm gonna have to try that "turkey"
