Default how can I juice bananas

    Hey,
what do you think is a good way to dillute bananas when you put them in the mixer? Bananas are really viscous, so I wonder how I could juice them.....Ill try lemon juice or orange juice, but maybe theres a better way to juice bananas?

Ummm, never heard of juicing them. If I were to attempt that, I'd cut them in small pieces and put them through with other, juicier fruits. I'm curious what your intent is in juicing something that has so little juice in it.

Usually when I put bananas in a juicer it's because I'm making "ice cream" or something of that nature; then they're frozen and put through with other frozen fruits.

I think you will just be wasting your banana if you try to juice it. It is usually not recommended as a juicing fruit unless.. if you are making a drink that requires bananas you could juice the fruits and then later add the juice liquid to a blender and then throw in the banana....

Please don't do that to the poor banana. Blend him - he doesn't have a lot of loose liquid to give, he's a smoothie.

Lol...ok then, how do I make a good smoothie out of a banana?
I mean when I put it in the mixer then its just really viscous.....I just added orange juice to the banana...tastes awful....I need something like cream or so I guess...Ive never made a banana smoothie without milk so far...and I dont drink milk, so I guess I need a substitute for milk or so, and I dont drink soy milk either, and no rice milk...I tried coco milk but that tasted awful too.......I just want to drink bananas, but I dont know how....

I just do bananas and water. Like 2 cups cold water, 3 bananas and some ice. It's one of my favorite drinks. May not have enough flavor for you, but if you just want to drink a banana, that might do the trick.

Also sometimes I'll throw almonds into the water and make almond milk first (usually don't strain, but that's just me) and then after that's all whooped up good, add in the bananas and ice.

you can't juice bananas or strawberries, they have no juice in them

same with papaya, peaches, nectarines, anything that is thick like that.

you would juice your citrus fruits or whatever, then add that juice and your banans or peaches, mangos etc to the blender, and make a smoothie.

    I like
    1 cup orange juice
    1/2 cup mango
    1/2 cup pineapple
    1/2 banana, this is excellent

if you freeze the banana and mango, and pineapple it makes it into a cold slushy.

you may even need to add more orange juice to keep it moving.

    also,

use any combination of fruits, it's great.

I love bananas in smoothies like that with the OJ, but if you feel you need milk or cream, you may want to try tossing in an avocado. A little birdie told me about this and that it tasted great.

Oohhh... so those who like the banana/avo chocolate pudding might be able to make a banana/avo chocolate shake by adding a little water.... Hmm, something to try.

    Thanks, that sounds all good.

Sedona, how exactly do you make almond milk? You put the almonds in the water, and then.....???

Sharon, did you mean you mix oj+bananas, and then add the avocado to the banana/oj mix...Ive thought of that too....maybe that neutralizes the sweetness of the oranges.....

Ill also try priestess' recipe, that sounds great too.

Well, if I'm making a batch of almond milk, then I put a cup of almonds in about 4 cups water, blend real well, add vanilla, cinammon, sometimes agave, then strain in a nut milk bag.

But for smoothies, I just put a handful of almonds in about 2 cups water, blend real well, then add the bananas and sometimes vanilla and cinnamon or chai spices, depending on the mood. The smoothie milk I usually don't strain. Leaves pieces parts at the bottom but I don't mind that. If you add bananas before blending the almonds, you get chunky smoothies, which would be an oxymoron ;)

Brazil nuts work well, too. Some people use sesame, but that makes it bitter. Sometimes I'll do half sesame and half almond to cut cost and not have it quite so bitter.

Basically, try stuff and see what you like. You might be surprised at what tastes good and what doesn't. Just experiment with small batches at first incase you hate it.

Yes, you can just toss them all in the blender, and then blend well. The avocado is so soft that there won't be any chunks.

With the nut milk, it would be better to just use the smallest amount of water with soaked nuts first, so you'll get the smootheset consistency, then strain the nuts (or not) and add extra liquid and fruits.

I find cashews to work really well when making smoothies as they are creamier.

My favorite banana shake was inspired by a flavor combination that came from a cooked banana bread I used to make.

I blend frozen banana chunks with almond milk (I often use soy lecithin in my nut milks because it gives them a really satisfying mouth feel-less watery) and some ground cardomom, maybe a little extra sweetener. Basically, it is like an incredible bananagasm. If you have an ice cream maker, you can pour it in there for faboo ice cream.

It helps if you wait til your bananas ar nice and spotty before you cut them up and freeze them. Then they're naturally very sweet.

    Default Bananas

I put bananas through my champion juicer all the time, but it comes out just like banana babyfood. When add it to a liquid fruit juice it becomes an instant thick smoothie (without ice or need to add any milk ot yogurt). Also, I saw someone posted that you cannot juice strawberries, but oh contraire my friend! they juice deliciously and also add a tiny bit of thichkness to the juice!
(just remember it's recommended not to combine strawberries and bananas together because they do not digest well when mixed)
