Struggling with breakfast
I'm fairly new to eating raw all day and I'm used to eating a multigrain piece of bread with raw almond butter on it in the a.m. I've tried to eat fruit for breakfast but it doesn't seem to get my metabolism going-I feel like I haven't eaten anything...is this just something my body will adjust to?

this is what I do...
I get the raw oats from Alissa's website and I soak them overnight in water, enough to cover it about an inch and a half or so. I add cinnamon the when I begin soaking it. then when I wake up in the morning I have oatmeal. I add some agave and it totally hits the spot. this is what broke my "french toast stick" habit in the mornings. :) Hope this helps.

I could never eat just fruit in the mornings, but now a make a big smoothie with bananas, and then after I'll have some cut up mango or pineapple or something, sometimes just the smoothie. Fills me right up though, as compared to just whole fruit!

Yanno what's fun about raw food? You don't have to look at things as "breakfast", "lunch" "dinner". Hungry in the mornings? Eat raw lasagne. Not hungry at lunch? Don't eat, or have a smoothie or some fruit. Starving at dinner? Have some fruit, salad and more lasagne!!!!
One thing about raw is, most people have to get out of the usual mindset of what to eat. It's not about eggs, pancakes and French toast anymore. It's about playing with your food; finding out what satifies you and making eating FUN!

Your right Revvell, on raw you're always eating!
Something from the melon family would be my favorite way to start the day.

Breaking the fast with yummy food.
I know I have to eat a lot of fruit to get full, not just one piece. Freeze some bananas overnight, cut up and put into food processor with vanilla extract, carob powder and almond butter. Ice cream for breakfast puts a smile on my face! :)
Water, bananas, apples, or mangos (or all three), dates, Alissa's Green Powder, ice and agave in a blender ~A super easy and yummy smoothie packed with protein and nutrients. Add some kale or swiss chard if you don't have any green powder. Make some raw granola out of nuts and eat with almond milk like cereal. Make it simple, pecan pie from Alissa's book is a grand sweet treat to indulge in along with some warm tea. Have fun!

breakfast idea
I find this breakfast very satisfying and I am not hungry for many hours after.
I do not have this everyday and vary the ingredients a bit. My 2 yr old likes it too! I find it helpful most on those days raw is a struggle for me.
Adrienne's Breakfast Cereal
Almond milk (made by me)
raisins
coconut flakes
walnuts
pecans, almonds or cashews
sunflower and/or pumpkin seeds
I mix it all together in whatever quanities I am in the mood for (ie less nuts more seeds, no coconut etc). I also occasionally add raw cacao powder for an extra kick! Yesterday I added hemp seeds, very exciting!
Hope this helps.

Here's what I like sometimes: Almond butter, a little honey or agave nectar, raisins. Mix it all up, then scoop it up with celery sticks. Nice and crunchy and sweet and yummy!

I made raw pancakes today! Yum Yum
In a blender throw in:
1/2 cup organic Spelt flour or oat groats (Unsure if it's raw I couldn't locate this information)
1/2 cup raw coconut dehydrated. (I'm sure you could use fresh. Never tried)
2 Tbs Cinnimon
1 Tsp Vanilla
Dash nutmeg
1/2 cup fresh orange juice
Water ( to help mix thin to desired consistency. Don't make it too watery.
Dehydrate for 3 hours, flip over and dehydrate for 2 more or until your desired firmness. Before and after flipping, brush them with a sauce of:
1 tsp raw honey or agave
1 tsp pure maple syrup
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp vanilla.
Once dried and ready to eat blend a banana (frozen for really cold cream) and once whipped top on pancakes and you can use pure maple syrup, honey or even puree some fruit and drizzle. Mmmm.. I have some in the dehydrator right now!

Well
Why not make some flaxseed/banana crackers just for breakfast nutbutter and honey and banana sandwiches?

This may sound strange but I feel really bad using my blender in the morning (loudness/neighbors) since I would be eating breakfast between 7:30 - 8:30 am on the weekdays.. I want to make amazing FRESH smoothies (esp try the green one!) but I feel terrible because I could be waking up my downstairs neighbors. It's just a small building of one apartment below me, one below them.. and believe me.. sound travels. I also don't really know the girl below me. She's pretty distant, and we never cross paths as strange as it is. Seen her maybe 3 times in the 4 months she's been here.
So I guess I am going to try and look for other breakfast foods.. or just grab some fruits on the go. Once I get my dehydrator I'll make some crackers too.
Also I just made a great smoothie turned sorbet:
1 banana, lots of frozen raspberries, handful of frozen blueberries, agave nectar, and I threw in raw hemp protein powder. It came out like a froze soup but I froze it until it was harder and ate it like sorbet!! mmm.

You should not feel bad to turn a blender on at 730 in the morning. It is your house. Maybe your neighbor goest to work at 7 and all this time you are missing out.
Turn that sucker on and enjoy a green breakfast smoothie.

aleigh,
before worrying too much - why don't you just go and talk to your neighbors. It might take some courage to go down and ring the bell, but afterwards you will feel relieved. Whatever the outcome, it's better this way believe me.
We often worry too much about what could be if x, y or z.
