Is it possible to be in constant detox?
Is it possible to be in a constant state of detox if you don't go 100% raw? Since going high raw my daughter and I have gotten sick so many times with a fever and stomach pains. We are sick yet again with fever and upset stomach and I wonder if it's something like food poisoning or is it possible that our bodies are trying to fight off the cooked food that we do eat on occassion. Anyone experience this? Any insight into our sicknesses. This has been an ongoing problem since going high raw 5 months ago and I am thankful for the help I have gotten here but it is still a mystery to me as to what is causing these sicknesses.

I would say in my opinion it might be your body fighting the cooked foods. Have you ever tried going 100% and see if that helps? Maybe for a week?
I hope you feel better soon :)

yup, VG. I'm 100% most of the time, but whenever I drink a cup of coffee, or eat a piece of cheese, my face breaks out, within the hour. my theory is that because of the new level of energy from a highly efficient, nutritious diet, my body is able to start detoxing the "bad" almost immediately.

If you're getting a fever, I think, you're mobilizing stuff, probably long-chain trans fats or something similar, that's dissolved in fat and has long been stuck there. I think that's what I was doing the last few days. When I eat something cooked (e.g. bread or chicken) it comes out in sweat, and I may get diarrhea (but I can also get that from oranges), but I don't get a fever.
For fever, I suggest a hot bath, taking your temperature to make sure it doesn't reach 40 or so. This relieves your body of having to produce energy to maintain the fever, and also provides lots of water to wash out toxins.
What was your diet like before raw, and what's it like now?

The best way to know for sure is to do The 30 day Challange.
When that is completed you have the option to go back to high raw or staying with 100%.

-The higher percentage of raw you are, the more you will be sensitve to crap. Is this not a good thing? ;)

I concur vegloveforlife, I am still too sick for my tastes. My symptoms are somewhat different but miserable nonetheless. I thought that after a few weeks raw I would feel better but I don't. Yes I am less miserable than I was SAD but still something is very wrong and I am not functional enough. I only started feeling well enough to make eye contact and not be looking at the floor on Thurs and Fri but now I am nauseous all over again. Dizzy, pressure in body results in having explosive bowel while trying to shower and I have no clue what caused it. I am doing this so that I can be a functional person and it is not working and I have been trying for 3 months. Yes I am transitioning but I am unable to determine what foods do what to me. I guess I will have to quit juicing and go back to mono eating. I am waiting for Alissa's materials that I finally ordered and hope I find some answers there. Yes I would love to hire a consultant but the finances are not there for me and I don't want to ask how I attracted that because my brain just doesn't work so well when I am so physically miserable. If I could get to feeling better my thinking would improve tremendously I know. I need some answers and some guidance on how to do this better! I think that you and I need some similar guidelines to help us to determine what is going on and how to improve it. In my case I came to RAW sick and have been sick for years but I would like to feel better from RAW just so I can get the house clean, be semi-functional you know? Then I can worry about improving my finances and stuff like how do I attract the negative.

From my experience, most probably, yes.
Being raw, then eating sh!t, you feel bad. That's how it was when I was high-raw.

Thanks for the replies!
I am soooooo confused...I just don't know how to proceed right now. I love raw so much but I am sick of my daughter getting sick. Her temp was up to 104 (mine on the other hand is 94.0). This has happened about 4 times since going raw 5 months ago. We do eat cooked things once in awhile. Healthy cooked things such as vegan soup.
I have been so concerned about her I've brought her to the doctor and they can't find anything wrong. Everything was perfect that they checked (diabetes, thyroid, protein, anemia). This sickness will last about a day or two and then everything is back to normal but it always comes again in a few weeks. I am very worried about her. The symptoms are:
Vomiting (sometimes)
Naseua
Fever
Headache
Sore stomach
To raw parents: Has this ever happened to your children that are not all raw?

I think we're always in detox. We don't live in utopia where there's no air pollution or water pollution, etc. We breathe in other people's smoke (assuming we dont' smoke ourselves.) My body detoxes the chlorine/bromine from the pool when I swim laps at the gym. Your body is going to detox all the germs/bacteria it's exposed to.

I TOTALLY agree with this! Detoxing and cleansing isn't always just from the foods we put in, but from everything in our environment that we breath in, that our skin absorbs, etc.

Vg,
I'm SO sorry that your baby is going through and I know as a mom how this must make you feel!
Now, I'd like to ask you (I haven't read all replies, so please forgive me if I am asking something that has already been covered), what was life (dietary and otherwise that might relate to this) like during your pregnancy with her, if/when you nursed her (or did she drink formula?) and how long has it been that the two of you (or she) have been eating (mostly) raw? Were there ever any medications she ever had to take? Has she ever had a history of ear infections or anything like that when she was smaller/younger? Did she ever consume dairy products or animal products, period? When she does get sick, do you give her medicine or are you doing anything to supress her symptoms? If so, you do realize that the symptom can and oftentimes will resurface until the body is allowed to fully cleanse whatever it is trying to cleanse. Also sometimes our bodies when attempting to cleanse can retrace previous things.
