Help Me Pick a Juicer!
Hi:
I would like help with knowing which is the best juicer to purchase. I am looking for one in red or black or stainless to match our kitchen, too! I borrowed a Champion to try out and liked the juice, but didn't like all the stains on the unit... Of course, I would rather have a durable unit over a choice of color, BUT it would be great to find one that works well and looks great!
Thanks, Lin

I think most of the juicers that are plastic stain.
This it the one I have:

I like it. I've had a champion before, and I liked it too, but this one gets much more juice out of the produce and does everything.
I think the Omega juicer has a model in stainless...or at least a metal..and also has one that does wheatgrass/fruits/veggies...but I don't know how well it works.

I've got the Samson as well. Love it. Compact, lightweight and does wheatgrass easily.
Enjoyed the Champion although it doesn't juice greens as well and loved the Green Life.
Which one you get will be determined by budget and use.
As far as staining, stains happen on plastic. It is what it is.

CHAMPION!!! it is a bit hard to clean, but it does so much more than just juice... the homogenizer can make nut butters, ice creams, etc etc

My favorite is the Breville Juice Fountain. I used to have a Champion as well for many years but didn't care for it. It heated up, got messy and drippy and was very bulky.
The Breville is a wonderful machine. Juices quickly and thorougly. It is a basket style juicer, which is great at pretty much everything. The twin gears like the Green Star/Life and Samson are very good for leafy greens though.
So it depends on what you are wanting to juice. If you are going to blend your greens in soups and smoothies with a blender anyway, I highly recommend the Breville for your juicing needs. If you want to juice a lot of greens, then a twin gear would be more appropriate.

i bought a champion because everyone said it was so great, and it gets really clogged up and i have to clean it like four times while i make a glass of juice! and when i put nuts in it it kind of whirrs and then spatters and then stops working all together. did anybody else find this?
ps i recommend you dont get a champion...unless i am somehow using it wrong!

No, I didn't unless I was juicing celery then the strands got caught up around the cutter. It's a real workhorse ~ for carrots. It also makes great "ice cream" yet, I find it easier and faster to make in my processor. I've actually had two Champions. Let them both go. Bulky, heavy, heats the juice which has to be drunk immediately; does a poor job on greens.
Had a Green Life and Green Power (now, the Green Star, I think). Loved it except for making ice cream. Would freeze up on me, harder to clean so, again, I use the food processor.
Now I have the Samson. Easy to clean, light, does what I need it to do including, as I said above, wheatgrass.

I just bought a green power kempo.
I am very pleased with it.
It makes great juice, inc wheatgrass, ice cream etc.
its easy to clean and use.
I bought a red model as i was concerned about staining.
Its light, compact and low noise.
I love it :)

I have a breville...
I have a brand spanking new Breville still in the box that I have never used and really dont plan on using. I bought it about a year or so ago and I dont recall what I paid. If you are interested, I would be happy to give it to you for whatever you would be comfortable paying. If you want to research whether or not this is a brand that you are interested in and then perhaps get back to me just let me know...my email is sssmm@cox.net :)
I love my kitties: Sam, Simba, Sinatra, Smash, Frick, and Frack

what are your criteria?
if you have serious health issues and need the freshest juice possible to conteract the illness, then the single gear masticating type juicer is best since it creates the least amount of oxidation of the veggies and fruit, though still getting a lot of the sugars, and not as much of the other goods - add a hydraulic press [like the Norwalk Press, or less expensive People's Press] and you'll get the full health benefits
if you are just looking to make the quick juice to add to your raw diet, and are willing to sacrifice some more of the nutrients, then the double gear or centrifugal type juicer is easier to work with typically, though these come in many forms, and some are more simple than others
Omega and Samsung are good ones to check out.
