    Default My kitten..

I just adopted her, from someone that was treating her poorly. she is about two or three months old. she is the sweetest kitten ever. her name is Zenia.

    anyway.
She has the strangest eating habits! None of my cats ever want to eat what I'm eating. She loves apples, grapes, lettuce, cuccumbers, veggie juice, and peas. I'm always willing to share with her, she usually would rather eat veggies and fruit over her regular cat food. Sometimes I feel so bad about giving her normal cat food that i make her some vegan "burgers", she loves it!
I don't feed her beef or turkey or anything she couldn't catch out in the wilderness by herself.

    i love her!

If you give her normal cat food, that's worse than not giving her beef/chicken or something just because she "couldn't catch it in the wilderness herself."

My cats are fed only raw meat/bones/organs. That said, they will sometimes beg for whatever I'm eating, and I will give them some. That includes weird things like mushrooms, green olives, lettuce, etc. It's not because thats what they should be fed, it's because they like the taste. Kind of like us and cravings or whatever.

    Congrats on your new baby!

i would feed her raw meet but i am unable to, i live with my mom (i'm only 16) and i haven't given my mom enough information about raw meat for pets. plus we have a lot of full grown cats and it would cost a lot.

That's exactly what happened to my kitten when I got her (she's not 5 months old). If you start them young they'll accept more foods that they're given, like toddlers. Sadie eats peaches, tomatoes, avocado, cantaloupe, honeydew, pineapple, ect. Avocado and cantaloupe are her favorite and she'll attack me WITH claws if I have a plate or bowl with any on it. I make her cat food of chicken, fish, beef, ect. fresh instead of canned. She loves it and scoffs it down! Tonight I did groud turkey, piece of tuna fillet, avocado, peas, and brown rice in the Ultimate Chopper to make it canned texture. Even my oldest cat (8) is starting to eat it and like it. Now, the middle one won't touch this stuff! Only canned. She's the only "fat" cat I have. Kinda like how people can become programmed to eat only fast food and won't even touch a veggie so when they're adults they don't have the taste for them. Anyway, Amber (6) was abandoned also and found wild. My dad brought her home. She sniffs the food I make (she does this like a food away) and scurries off lol. I'm workin on her.

Haha I always like reading your posts Dream :)
I forgot, Zenia LOVES peaches! Whatacutie. I think she'll like avocadoes, I'll have to buy one for her.
Haha, I know what you mean about the attacking, she'll do anything for a bite of apple!

this is funny to me because I remember my old cat who would do ANYTHING for olives. It was the weirdest thing. He would act like he was on catnip for even just a bit of olive juice!

I think that cats are scavengers and therefore not limited to meat. With a kitten - well you are its mommy and it will do its best to eat what you feed it or what you yourself eat. My grown cats could not be trusted to eat meat from animals they would not catch on their own. This trait grew more pronounced with age. I used to take in every stray so I have had alot of cats and this food choice was pretty consistent. They also like to eat grass like dogs. They are constantly looking for new water sources causing me to wonder if originally they were desert creatures?
