Growing Your Food with Ocean water
Anybody here grow their own food? If so, do you water your plants with ocean water?

I was wondering about this, and where do you get ocean water from? I saw david wolfe saying growing food with DILUTED ocean water....
-
Surly the plants that traditionally grow on non salted soil will not benefit from adding salt.
It does not make any sense to me.

Sport, it is the ocean minerals that is beneficial.
The water is diluted, and a little bit of salt is good for the plants.
-
Yes, it is diluted 100:1 water to ocean water.
The salts found in ocean water are not like table salt.
Click here for a listing of the minerals found in ocean water.
David Wolfe knows ALL about what I'm up to, but doesn't promote it enough. There isn't enough money to be made in it. More money to be made selling cacao nibs.
If you're really interested in the science behind it, go back to that Ocean Solution site, or read Sea Energy Agriculture, by Maynard Murray. It is absolutely mind blowing.

isopach, are you affiliated with oceangrown?
-
As in am I trying to sell it to you? No.
I do know a guy who sells it, but I don't make any money telling people about it. He makes most of his money selling it to farmers. Individuals don't buy too much.
I'm telling you about it because it excites me to no end! My family has a goal of owning a small farm in a year or so, and growing everything with Ocean Solution. I've tasted several different fruits and veggies that were grown with it, and the taste is unreal.

No, I didn't think that. I've known about it for years, lol. Much longer than Mr. Wolfe has been acquainted with it. I am just needing to buy some soon and I thought it sounded like you were with the company. I agree. VERY good product...and very needed with the loss of minerals in the soil. The pollution of the ocean is the trade-off, but I think it's better to have the minerals.

Would seaweed do just as well. I would find that easier to transport.

No, I don't think it would Sport!
You would only be getting the oceanic minerals when you ate the seaweed. With this water, you are getting the mineralization in everything that you grow it with. The more sources you receive the nutrition from, the healthier you are.
I can only grow in pots as I have no yard, but that is fine..it's amazing how much baby greens and spinach and such one can grow in a few pots...also buckwheat lettuce, sunflower sprouts, and pea shoots. It is not of use in regular sprouting as the plant doesn't take up nutrients from it's environment until it's done with it's built in nutrients, but anything planted in soil will benefit greatly from this stuff.
On the other hand, if you cannot or don't want to grow anything, the seaweed will give you some of the minerals.
edit: re: the seaweed...it would also depend on where it's harvested. The oceangrown solution is supposed to be very deep water which would be more mineralized as there is less pollution way out to sea than near shorelines.

And I thought of going to the beach taking buckets of water..........
-
We get buckets of ocean water and use 10% ocean water, 90% regular water. Our wheatgrass and sunflower sprouts taste better, and we have no more mould. It's just amazing. The use of it is really spreading in Australia for home use, and we talk about it alot to customers and people at talks (my husband did a talk in Brisbane last night). It's truly amazing, and we were introduced to the idea by David Wolfe (he pointed us to Ocean Grown).
Cheers,
Sheryl

How did you guys find out about all this? My dad ran into Gino at Living Libations one night when he was picking up some of their raw cacao bars. Our life has been going through a revolution ever since!
It still amazes me that I am doing the very thing that a few years ago I would be dead-set against. Thank God I had enough sense to listen to reason.

hmm
Im going to be putting 1.5 ounces to super pack my easy green sprouter for an added nutritional punch to my sprouts. My oceangrown just got here!
Yeah!

thanks isopach..
I am in New York, and they have a place in Florida but everytime I've ever called I always get a machine and then it takes ages for someone to call back and I'm usually out and phone tag commences...sigh. I had seen that in Canada that you could actually order online a long time back..but I thought that Americans would have to order from Florida? But I guess they have distributors in the US now. I don't think they did have them even 18 months ago, but there are a few on the website now.
I don't remember where I heard of it. It has been many years ago that I was introduced to it, and raw foodism was not very well known back then either, lol. Course, it's still not well known in the mainstream, but we're gaining ground.
