Hey Spectactrix,
You go to Ta Lin? I get my coconuts there. I'm concerned, though, about the status of the produce there. Most of it looks fresh, but none of it is organic. I don't mind eating conventional and/or imported things from time to time, but as for staples in my diet, I think it's really a good idea to stick to organic, no? You do make a good point though about the price issue. That's why I buy my coconuts (and durians, if the stem is still hard) at Ta Lin because the ones at La Montanita are twice as much (literally, almost 3 times as much) and aren't organic either. As a matter of fact, sometimes they even have the same stickers on them! Oh, if I could only find a source for organic young coconuts, I'd be so stoked!
Nice to meet a fellow Albuquerquean, btw.
