    Default Making the Commitment~Totally inspired!

Below is a link to an article that Oprah wrote about making the commitment with food and exercise that totally inspired me:

    http://www.oprah.com/presents/2005/b...mit_main.jhtml

SHe is starting up a 12 week bootcamp that covers all that she did with her most recent weight loss. I read what it is and I'm going to do it too!! Never thought I'd do one of her bootcamp things - but I'm inspired.

I'm already doing the food thing - I just need support with the exercise and I know this is a great opportunity.

anyhow - I'm a little embarassed that I'm doing this - but I just had to share because her article was moving.

    And Oprah looks amazing!!!!

That is so cool 'Private' Catherine! Oprah 'is' looking great! She is great- bottom line.

Why would you be embarassed? We are all here to better ourselves in health ... if this is what helps you- it may help lots of others too I can't wait to hear how it goes... the link wouldn't work for me- but I think it is just down. I will try it again tomorrow.

I wish you all the best Catherine! I can't wait to hear how it's goes!

This is wonderful that you are doing this. Thanks for sharing the site. Are you going to go on the cruise in June? Wondering because I want to see all the great work you will have done .

    Default thank you

    Hi Flutterfly and Feelingood!

    Thanks for the support.

WE shal see how it goes. Last night I finally got my alarm clock working for me and set it for 7am - then changed it to 8:30am. I think getting UP will be the biggest challenge about the bootcamp...but if Oprah can do it. SO can I.

I start Monday - but I want to get used to waking up early.

SO far - not so good!

    Have a great day today!!!

You mean go to sleep before 1am?????????

    sheeesh.

    lol.

I know I know. It's going to be a challenge with Jerry getting home at 10:30pm from work and then he has dinner and watches tv until around midnight.

I'm going to go to bed and read before he gets home and try to put myself to sleep.

    WIll be interesting.

Hi Catherine. First of all, thanks so much for posting this site of Oprah's! I'm giving the Boot Camp thing some consideration. I guess there would have to be a few food modifications as raw fooders but I kinda don't know where to begin.
I'm not sure how to work the workouts either. I go to Curves 3 times a week and plan to up that to 5 or 6. I guess I'll have to sit down and do some math or something. Each Curves workout consists of a half hour of resistance/cardio and then a 10 minute stretch/cool-down. I'm wondering if I can do my own exercise thing as long as it equals the amount of time?
Other than that, I suppose I could walk? What are your plans if you don't mind sharing them...

    Default My Bootcamp plan

    Hi Walkin' on water.
Since we are already raw - the food part doesn't really apply - as far as I'm concerned. The only thing I'm going to change is that she asks that your last meal is 3 hours before you go to bed. That is going to be a huge change for me and I know it will help. And I'll have to deal with my issues of using food as comfort.

The workouts will be interesting for me too.

I'm going to get up early and take the bus to the gym and do what her workout is.

The days that she asks us to do an extra workout - per day - I'm going to do that one at home.

I'm not going to the gym at all right now - so my entire schedule is going to change starting Monday.

I keep complaining in my head that it takes me an hour by bus to get to the gym for my 1/2 hour workout - then another hour back.

But this is how it is right now. and it will be good for me to take time for myself on the bus and journal and read and relax.

Just means getting up early enough so I don't feel I'm wasting my entire day. But I don't see how working out is a waste! Another lie my mind wants to tell.

So that's it - the food ending 3 hours before bed and going to the YMCA for the exercise plans.

She has forums on her website too for people who want support during the bootcamp and I may join - but I can barely stay on top of THIS forum so I'm not sure.

Wow, you have to ride a bus that long? Both ways??? I have NO excuses then, do I. I think I'm in, I'm just going to read some more of the info tonight and then plan to start Monday morning. Already got the contract printed out and ready to sign. Up, Up and Awaaaaaaaaaaaay! But down, down on the scales...and inches. :)

All, I am interested - I am unable to do her workout right now, so what should I do? Do we need to form our own group? Someone give me some suggestions.

    Thanks

    Thumbs up

Alissa, I'm certainly up for that! It would help clarify things for us all as well as give us the option of continuing to get feedback on this site instead of having to go to go elsewhere. Also, due to some people's necessary restriction of certain exercises (or present inability because of illness or whatever...) we can maybe create our own within our own abilities?
I'm really not interested in joining another discussion group or forum on any other site. Not only do I not have the time but this site has met every need I have for support and information.
    Just my thoughts.

Thanks Alissa, - great Idea - I'll go start a thread there - and we can do support each other from here instead of signing up for something else.
