Great poll! I would value seeing what other's experiences have been with this...

I find the juice fasts to be much easier to maintain my life with... better overall energy. The water fasts are good for deeper cleansing and healing... and detox. However, I've found them more challenging to keep up with my life while doing that. And, more detox symptoms...

Overall, I've had benefit from both... and am planning to do a fast soon... water to start... juices to sustain more time.
Whatever the question... love is the answer

Juice fasts are what I would prefer because you receive me nurtience than with a simple water fast. Plus I would pass out from a water fast! lol

I voted for water fast, b/c it worked best for me. When I tried doing fruit a few times, I just ended up breaking it w/in 3 days. W/ water, I lasted for 14 days & felt so renewed!

Where's the choice for "it depends". :)

People with cleaner bodies should definately do water fasts if they can.

Busy folks who cannot rest during a cleanse should go on juice diets.

I've done both and they both have their ups ad downs. When I was on water, the spiritual clarity was amazing, however I couldn't do much activity because of the degree of cleansing.

Juice dieting was great too, didn't cause me to get tired, and had tons of energy, however cravings often came up, but not hunger.

I write "diet" instead of fast because you are no longer truly fasting when taking in more than water.

I vote water, both the physical and the spiritual effects are deeper, I think it is a experience with more width, and the challenge is also bigger. (I am planning to do my first...)

( the thread said for many days that I was not allowed to vote, so maybe you have to keep it longer open, others could have had the same problems)

Lay-Lay, I've been following your other thread (the protein one) and I am assuming you are thinking of undertaking some sort of cleanse.

May I suggest starting a liquid diet of sorts (juice, tea, broth, whatever), and then trying water in the middle for your desired length of time, then go back on liquids. This is what I did on a 2 week fast with 5 days of water in between, and it worked quite well.

Well at the time of starting this thread was more of a reference to my mothers desire to fast, but I am planning on fasting tommorow. I have never done a very long juice fast myself, but have done some very long water fast. Juice always seemed to make me hungry for solid foods. I believe I am going to at least start out on juices for a while.

Just broke a 7 day master cleanse over the weekend. Do not think I could have done the water fast as energy would probably have been at a lower ebb than I need for work. Juice fast would be nice. Actually did a three day diluted juice fast several years ago at the Optimum Health Institute. So, both are okay and would probably do either one on a regular basis.

    Post what's your objective?

as Sharon in Colorado wrote so well, depending on what you are attempting to achieve, each type of fast has it's benefits

    I experience had greater spiritual depth, though more toxicity on water fast;
my recent 60 day juice fast was easier to maintain on a busy work/travel schedule while still giving my many benefits of cleasing/clarity, etc.
