    Amazing Italian Meatballs

    12 oz. white button mushrooms
    3/4 c. walnuts
    2 T. Italian seasoning
    1 t. garlic powder
    1 t. celtic sea salt
    1 small red pepper
    1 small tomato

Blend it all together in the food processor. Put them on the teflex sheets in little "meatball size" balls. (They won't form a real ball.) Dehydrate overnight.
I make a marinara and pour it over the meatballs and they are delicious!!
How much flavor does the flax seed meal have ????

If it doesn't have much flavor could you add a little to the recipe to make them stay together.

Do you eat it on pasta or just with the marinara sauce?? Sounds delicious.

Mine have never fallen apart. Maybe they just need to dehydrate longer.

I use this same recipe to make pizza burgers! I topped it with raw pizza sauce, onions and sliced red pepper in romaine leaves. Yummy!

I've made these twice now! They are wonderful! Mine form nice little balls, are very moist. This time I doubled the recipe and made patties out of them. They taste sooooo good with Alissa's marinara sauce! I really like this recipe. Thank you Nini!!!

Those sound fantastic Nini - always looking for something that's not too heavy and that looks really good!

Hey, if you happen to snap some photos of it, feel free to put it in the food photo thread!

I made these and they were delicious. I'm salt sensitive, so will cut that in half next time, but ate about half the batch before they even made it to Alissa's marinara with zucchini noodles. I sauced the noodles and put about 4 meatballs on top and warmed in the dehydrator. It was happily devoured. Cannot believe they were even the same color as SAD meatballs.

Thank you so much for sharing the great recipe!

    Default This is awesome

I made this tonight. Now, I left it in the food processor a little too long, so I wasn't able to form it into balls. However, I spread it out on a Teflex sheet and placed it in the dehydrator at 105 degrees for a little less than 2 hours...

I was going to leave it overnight as an experiment, but I tasted a little bit of it and scraped it off into a container. It was delicious! It came out just like a pate -- that would be great for the crackers...

This seems like it is a good "colder weather" dish. It is so yummy! Thanks for the recipe!

I "tweeked" this recipe a bit. I bought a taco seasoning mixture from my health food store and added that this time. I did make some patties, but also made some "burger" crumbles to add to salads. YUM-MEE!!!

I'm trying them this weekend; I have mushrooms and walnuts that I need to do something with. I hope my body responds well to the combo. I am going to try to grind the walnuts into a flour first to try to help with the ball shapes. I think I am going to make some noodles along with the sauce and try to have spaghetti with meatballs (which is funny to me because when I ate a SAD I never ate spaghetti and meatballs)
