Humanure for organic growing?
Anyone heard about or actively do this?

oh that is nasty. I could have went a lifetime without seeing that

There is a possibility that if you are 100% raw it would not be a bad thing. Cows do it in the fields and it does no harm.

Actually it seems like an eco-friendly way to fertilize plantlife, if you ever wonder what happens to human waste when you flush it down the toilet, you'd be surprised at how damaging to the environment it is.

Oh, I should probably add that it's not about going #2 on the lawn. One would use a sawdust toilet or the like, and the waste would go into a compost pile for about a year to cultivate until it's ready for fertilization, covered by layers of straw to mask smell and lock in the heatof course.

The Chinese have been doing this for centuries (http://journeytoforever.org/farm_lib..._WoH/WoH7.html). It's a perfectly natural method of propogating the natural cycle of life. Obviously, it must be done correctly to avoid hygiene issues.

Check out Dancing Rabbit for more information on how it can be done safely, and heck yeah it's good - just recycling "kicked up a notch"...

*cough* there are things in the world I just don't want to know about ;)
(still, it's interesting, have to admit that)

My mother told me about Asian monks doing this as well. I don't know the details, but in short: they grow their own vegetables and fruits and use there own 'humanure' to fertilize the land. I cannot see why that would be gross, animal manure is used to fertilize land, as is waste of plants and fruits, and corpses (I mean, when animals, people, plants etc die, they just get recycled, feeding new life). It's a natural way of recycling, it is how it happens in nature too without us having to do something about it.

Doesn't RP do this for her garden??
Not sure but I think I read that in a post a while back.
Seems to make sense to me!
It is, therefore, evident that it is possible to cure by foods, aliments and fruits; but as today the science of medicine is imperfect, this fact is not yet fully grasped. When the science of medicine reaches perfection, treatment will be given by foods, aliments, fragrant fruits and vegetables, and by various waters, hot and cold in temperature.

I remember reading about this guy online who does this.
Makes a lot of sense to me. . . when we get to the point where we are growing a lot of our own stuff, I want to definitely try it.
haul that hammer up over your shoulder.
swing bolder, and bolder.

I grow my own stuff and this is something I will NEVER do. I think this is sooooo gross.

I've read the book and can highly recommend it! Very informative and I mean not the "theoratical" kind! he has a lot of experience behind it.
Yes, I agree it is not people's favorite topic, it is not like talking about the weather... then again there are a lot of avoided topics that society doesn't want to address or want to know about...
The author put it into perspective for me , the dilema we face of how little fresh water there is and how much is waisted everytime we flush...
I agree with Arky & I.like.it.raw that it has to be done properly and with knowledge...
It's not unsimilar to raw food; telling someone you eat raw food and depending on their knowledge, perspective they might think " carrot sticks and lettuce leaf? berk, I don't think so"
But we know there is so much more to it, how tasty it can be and how healthy it is for us and the environment to be eating that way ;)
If it was up to me humanure would be another topic tought in schools along with so many others that are not being taught.... but that is another topic..
Hey, I will start a new thread " what do you wich you chilfren were taught in "school" or " what did you wish you had learned in school" :)

well I guess I would have to home school if this was being taught. I have no problem with talking about BM. I used to be in the colonic business. I just do not agree with this whatsoever, but to each their own.
-
it is perfectly natural, and one of the ways to help our environment.
I wouldn't want to use anyone else's, because of medications, toxins, etc, but I KNOW what's in mine. 100% raw, ripe, fruits veggies, and nuts, sooooo natural, and soooooo good for the soil. YEP!!!
