Hi!
Somehow my children have gotten the message from me that cooked food is bad, unhealthy or yucky and raw food is good, healthy or yummy. This is a very good thing I think but it can sometimes backfire on you and cause some embarasment.
Case in point..
We went over to a couples house for supper one day. They were serving a huge Thanksgiving type dinner with all the fixings. There were a few other couples there too but we had the only children. (it was not Thanksgiving, but they made a Thanksgiving type meal). Our hosts had set up a nice little "childrens table" for our children to sit at across the room and started dishing out food to them. I was sitting at the table visiting with one of the other couples.
Suddenly from across the room I hear our 5 year old yell "Hey Mama, look, they are feeding us yucky food!" I looked over at him and tried to motion to him to be quiet. He then shouted out "Mama are you going to eat this yucky food?" and "Look Mama, they have all kinds of yucky food here!"
Now, I laugh about it. At the time I was mortified as everyone turned to look at me wondering what on earth he was talking about.
