Kern's apricot nectar. Give about 2 oz. per day mixed with a little water to thin it down. Comes in a can. Looks like a soda can. If that doesn't help, then he really needs to see the Dr. I have a cousin who had such trouble and the cause turned out to be something not right inside of him. Some sort of blockage or organs that didn't properly form. He needed surgery. I can't remember the particulars because it was many years ago. I was just a kid myself. In his case, he would have some bowel movement so some of the food was getting through. Just not a lot of it. That much I do remember.

I would see a Dr. just to rule out any major problems. My Mother would carve a piece of Ivory Soap down and use it on us, as in doing an enema. You can also rub the right side of the Stomach, rubbing it down, which is the desending Colon.

Yikes. Definately check with his pediatrician, but my baby ( 1 years old with 6 teeth) has been drinking mango juice (trader joes organic pastuerized mango nectar) since she was 6 months old. I breastfed as well! I only give it to her if she hasn't pooped for more than one day which was very rarely. But it works everytime; 30 minutes after drinking the nectar.. "THAR SHE BLOWS"!!

    Poor little baby!!

If your friend has a juicer have her make up some carrot juice for the poor little guy. It goes right through my little ones. Really cleans them out.

I second (or third) the advice to see a doctor to make sure nothing is clogged or amiss up there. I normally hate doctors (not personally, just the idea) but with a baby that can't talk to tell you if something is wrong or where it hurts I think it is a good idea.

    Default my daughter

my daughter had poop issues since she was very tiny. she drinks TONS of water (for a child) and we used to have to add prune juice to anything she consumed when small... but that wasnt very tasty for her. then a friends mom introduced us to Lansoyl (sold in all drug stores i think). it is a jelly... i assume it is not raw at all though... but it was evry tasty and my daughter loved it. we gave it to her only when she wouldnt eliminate properly... by the next day she was ok again.
her whole life so far (4yrs) she has not had diahrea (sp). she always had very firm poop and it used to hurt me to see her be so unhappy when she had to poop. it hurt her and she would hold it in instead of pushing it out, as it hurt too much. the lansoyl helped immensely. it is flavored mineral oil.

i think some kids have more problems than other. my nephew is the opposite, he has never had a constipated day in his whole life (6 yrs).

My son had this problem to where he would bleed. I had to give him enemas. I hated doing the following but it did work and was one of the few things this picky eater would fall for. I mashed a banana with alot of mineral oil and froze it. If there is enough mineral oil it won't really freeze but they think it is banana ice cream. Now the way I understand mineral oil is that it takes nutrients with it as it leaves the body (it is actually devoid of all minerals and has alot of empty hook-ups to take the nutrients with it.) So I didn't like doing it at all but it did work and we did not notice that he was nutrient deficient as a result. I learned this from my mother-in-law as he got this problem from that side of the family. There was no other combination that I could use to get the mineral oil down him.

Just a quick correction, the colon goes up from the right hip to near your ribs, across to the left, and down the left side of the body (not the right as above). If you push down on the right side you could be pushing stuff in the wrong direction.

    Cheers,
    Sheryl
