Raw isnt about spending tons of money on classes and learning to spend even more money on food to make these fancy recipes, ... if it were what is the point of living raw but on cooked food standards. Raw is about living simply but at the same time healthy and thats what i plan on doing!

    YOU ARE DOING GREAT!!!

It' okay to "mess up" there is no failure, if you keep trying.

I went on and off raw for 5 years, now I've been 100% raw for almost 5 months and I feel great, it is a process, and it can be difficult to give up wheat, which is the noodles and cereal, it usually takes a while for your body to realize that you just arent' going to give it that addictive substance any more and then to not keep tempting you.

I went to an "eat all you can keep down" place yesterday (like Coutry buffett)
with my son and his kids, and they put only starch on their plates, the girsl 6 and 8. that was it, no fruit no veggies, oh, yes and some desserts, and pop.

I ate cantaloupe, honeydew, mandarine oranges, strawberries, walnuts, fresh greens with lemon juice as a dressing, and I had water, it was good.

they are both over weight, and although they are children, they were exhausted by the end of the meal.

Wheat does that to you, it grabs ahold of you like a drug and then you crash, and sleep, or feel sleepy, I HATE that sleepy feeling.

eating raw is freedom, but you have to make it the MOST important thing in your life for a while, until it is natural, or at least I had to do that.

It is also a process, give yourself the time to do what works for you.

do your best not to eat wheat or anything that really calls to you, it's not your body saying that you need it, it is your body saying that you are addicted to it.

I don't want to be addicted to anything or anyone, life is too short to be a spectator, and to sit on the side lines, watching it go by, sleeping all day, craving food, lusting after food, etc.

it can be difficult, but you can do it.

it takes a few days to get over most cravings,

this is what I did in the beginning that really helped me, I hope it helps you.

when I would get a craving, the first thing I would do, is notice the feeling, and where it was coming from, notice what I was doing when it came up and what I was feeling, (this is a clue as usually it was when I was hurried and stressed or very tired) write this down, then go eat some raw food, something you truly love, even if it isn't something that you want at that moment, like a fresh ripe peach or a hand ful of nuts, whatever.

then tell yourself, "If you TRULY want to eat this thing, and you TRULY wish to have it affect your body, that you will eat it tomorrow." then go through the rest of your day, KNOWING that you will give yourself permission to eat this tomorrow, IF that is what you TRULY want.

I ended up NEVER eating that thing, because cravings usually pass within a few minutes, they may come back again and again, but give yourself a day to think about not eating it, and to eat fresh fruits and such instead.

I don't do colon cleanses, although many on this board do, so I'm sure you'll get some good advise.

cereal will keep you all clogged up, it just sits in your gut stuck to the walls of your intestines. UGH!!

trust me I KNOW about this, it took me a long time to get off wheat, now I feel wonderful.

and as long as you keep one tsp of wheat in your life, either through cereal or soy sauce, or mustard, (yes these all have wheat in them) you will crave wheat,

personally, I hate that feeling of cravings, so I stay away from it in any form.

I know you will be able to do this, you are so much stronger than this addiction.

just do it for one day, or one hour or one minute, each minute without your addiction, is a minute toward a healthier life, body and mind.

Maybe give your granny some recipes of things she can make for you like raw fudge etc... It may make her feel good to be able to make some treats for you.

    Just a thought....

My friend has been suffering from migraines and in her case it is indeed related to certain foods. She has found that chocolate and onions are just some of her trigger foods.

I do know how difficult it can be to not take food that your grandma is offering. At least it was with one of my grandmas. She'd act very insulted if you didn't at least try it. But that was her problem. I just finally learned to say, "No not thanks!"
