    Default mail order fruit boxes?

I want to look into a rather inexpensive mail order fruit box type thing, I don't know what to if that is what to call what I am thinking of...
I have been searching the internet for a LONG time now and cannot really find what I am looking for. Does anyone have any suggestions/help?
    thank you!! :)

Not sure what you mean by a fruit-box type thing. You want a box to ship fruit or someone who sells gift boxes of fruit ..or...?

We've gotten things from Harry and David and it's all been rotting before, ugh!! Maybe it's our humidity, but it was nasty!

I think she means like a box of fruit and vegetables that gets delivered to your house every week. I'd like to know as well!

I'll second the Harry and David stuff. Ugh! Someone I know keeps sending them as a gift. Always bad stuff.

This stuff is good, but not necessarily cheap:

And this one looks good, but I've never tried them. Did try to send an order to the east coast but the postage was so high, forget about it!

If it is merely a weekly delivery to your house that you want, try checking for local farms in your area.

Just an FYI, Harry and David guarantees everything they ship, so if you ever get something that is not good, just call them and they'll ship out a replacement n/c.

JennaBoBenna, that is what I meant. Thank you for clarifying! :)

See if you have a food distrubution centre / market in your area. We have one about an hour for us. Stores and restaurants buy bulk there from 5-9 am, and after that individuals (like me and you) can pay $5 to drive the car in and shop.

Late on a Friday they are trying to clear out the stock for the weekend, and it's common to pick up entire boxes of fruit for $10, flats of mango's for $3, watermelons (huge) for $1. Or flats of blackberries for $3 (12 punnets for $3) - they are usually about $8 PER punnet!!

Here's a photo of one haul from here, that cost about $100. We fed 12 people for a weekend on this and had heaps to spare. Here's a link to their website (Brisbane Australia) in case it gives you some ideas for how to track down one near you: http://www.brisbanemarket.com.au/text2.asp?sub=2&txt=2
